Many of you are quite familiar with the married duo, Diane Meucci and Wolfgang Marquardt, who lovingly created their 5 acre shade homestead, Gardens Oy Vey, in Arlington, Tn, just over 38 years ago. Wolfie, can be found every Saturday at the Memphis Farmers Market selling his one of a kind container gardens. When Keith and I began farming, 15 years ago, Diane and Wolfgang were, and continue to be, a constant source of inspiration, guidance, support, and love. For me, they are the plant loving, local food, living off the grid, gurus of the MidSouth. Their knowledge and artistry with plants is truly remarkable.
Right now, they need our help. Diane has been diagonosed with failing kidneys, and most recently, a facial tumor. This news has certainly come as a shock, but both Diane and Wolfie are ready to face the challenges ahead. In addition to their monthly living expenses, they now have mounting medical bills, and ultimately still have a business to operate. Diane & Wolfie would never ask for help in this manner, but I know they truly need it , so I'm asking anyone reading this to please pray for Diane's health and recovery, and contribute what you can to ease their financial burdens. I know Diane and Wolfgang, would be most grateful.

It is hard to believe it’s been over five month’s since Diane’s operation. Indeed some trying times.

The hardest part the radiation treatment is thankfully over with.
Now the waiting begins to see if the facial nerve will cooperate and make some recovery.

So far it’s been just some horrendous sensation for the poor girl form tingling to itching to pain. The right part of her face will probably never have any feeling but we hoping for a visual repair which could take up to eighteen months.

Tomorrow we will seen eye doctor to talk about a correction of the drooping right eye, that will be already a great improvement. Than one more MRI in two weeks and hopefully the poor girl will be free for August.

Thanks to some great friends and volunteers we are able to continue the nursery operation and our cuttings of plants is able to continue.
Diane is also able the be a beast in the garden, which she loves as long as she protects the face from the sun.

I am able to pull us through and hopefully we will make it another year with my online operation and the markets and events coming up.

We are also planing another fall event similar to the one in May in connection with the Mid-South Hydrangea Society.

Diane will hopefully be able to get back to designing and maintenance work in fall and winter.

We love this place and hate to loose it. So keep us in your thoughts.

Thanks
Wolfgang

Hi Guys!

Just a little update, Diane got released from the hospital on Valentines Day.

The nights here at home are just an absolute delight after we both felt it better to stay together at night in the hospital.

So, recovery is on the way, staples where removed yesterday and the plastic surgeon and the speech pathologist are very optimistic about her progress as am I. However Diane is a bit more scared and skeptical.

She also caught a stomach virus, wich does not bring on too many positive vibes.

So bare with us and thanks so much again.

Wolfgang
