Help firefighter Chad&Megan Jenkins

Donation protected
On the night of October 30th, Marion firefighter, Chad Jenkins, his wife Megan and their two young daughters were hit in a head on collision near Peru, Indiana, after the other driver had crossed the median line. They were immediately air lifted to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne and each later transferred to other hospitals for specialized care, separating them with each in one of four different hospitals, and in two different cities; Fort Wayne and Indianapolis. Chad fractured both legs and both arms, and suffered other internal injuries. Megan fractured both knees and her left wrist, and suffered severe facial injuries. One daughter suffered severe trauma to her head and face, and suffered a skull fracture. She doing well after a 12-hour emergency surgery. The other daughter was released late on November 1st.

Long-term prognoses for Chad, Megan, and their daughter are unclear at this time, but we expect a long road to recovery for all. As they fight for their future in their respective hospitals, Chad and Megan’s medical bills, rent, and car payments will accumulate. Chad and Megan’s families are both doing everything they can, but most days are spent traveling back and forth between Marion, Ft. Wayne, and Indianapolis, coordinating their medical care and supporting them emotionally. Their separation has made everything immensely more difficult for them.

This family lives their lives together to the fullest. It is very hard for the parents to be separated from her girls and the girls need their parents the most during this traumatic time. Chad has been a firefighter with the Marion Fire Department for years and is a loved and respected member in the Marion community. He is incredibly passionate about his profession, and has devoted his life to saving others. He loved giving children tours of his fire station, and talking to them about the department, trucks, and their tools. Megan works as a bank teller and enjoys being able to bring smiles to her customers and coworkers. Their daughters are incredibly caring and generous, and are well known and loved by their classmates and teachers. They are a very close family and being separated during this tragedy has made it all the more painful for them.

Thoughts, prayers, or anything will help the Jenkins family on this long road to recovery. Thank you all.
