UPDATE 6/7: We need volunteers to make this a success. Please email Yujin at [email redacted] for details.

From Erin's parents:

"Erin was a typical, yet active and independent three-year-old girl who enjoyed a variety of activities, including ballet, swimming & snowboarding. It was just last December that something unimaginable struck the family: Erin became ill with acute stomach flu one day, and the next thing they knew was that her body became completely paralyzed. She was rushed to the BC Children's Hospital and diagnosed with a rare auto-immune syndrome, Guillain Barre Syndrome. Doctors administered multiple IV immunoglobulin (IVIG) infusion therapies to help boost her immune system. However, the damage was done to her little body. The syndrome left her nerves severely inflamed, causing her to be in an enormous amount of pain. Neurologists informed that Erin experienced a severe case of Guillain Barre syndrome, and it might take over two years for her to regain her mobility.

After over a month of intense treatments at the BC Children’s Hospital, Erin was transferred to the Sunny Hill Children’s Hospital in January in order to focus on rehabilitation. Although she was still in a fair amount of pain and her mobility was greatly limited, she was highly motivated to do all the required tasks on a daily basis. After months of intense rehabilitation, Erin was finally discharged in April. There are many positive signs of improvement as the symptoms of droopy eyes have nearly disappeared, and she is able to sit up her own for a prolonged period of time and stand up with support. Nonetheless, a lot of work still remains to be done in order to help her to be able to walk independently and regain her fine motor skills on her hands through physio and occupational therapies.

As she is no longer supported by the public health care system, the family's financial burden has been overwhelming for Erin’s family.  Any amount of contribution is greatly appreciated and will be utilized to cover various medical bills, including medications and rehabilitation therapies (physiotherapies, occupational therapies, massage therapies, acupuncture, etc.)

Erin believes she can walk again soon and she has been asking God to allow her to regain her mobility every day. The recovery progress has been a slow and frustrating one, but God is faithful, and we have no doubt that He will make her walk again!

Thank you for your love and continued prayers."

Let's join hands and help her to fight Guillain Barre syndrome together!
