Bruce Ricketts is a 100% disabled veteran battling ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), having been diagnosed on Jan 16, 2018.  He has the loving support of his wife Jamie and son Scott.  Bruce is blessed too with the support of family and friends.  Veterans contract this rare disease at twice the rate as the general population and Bruce's ALS is considered service related.

The VA is really stepping up and providing ongoing care and benefits, but Bruce and his family have faced or will face significant expenses related to diagnosis and early care, travel for treatment and trials, up-front costs for an accessible home suitable for his condition, moving costs, and out-of-pocket costs for an wheelchair accessible vehicle.

Bruce is a Naval Academy graduate, served on three ships on active duty and completed his Navy career in the Reserves where he retired as a Commander in 2004.  Longmont, Colorado is home where he enjoyed hiking, skiing, biking and golf before his fight against ALS.  Bruce is very upbeat, has strong faith and he and his family take every day together as a gift.
