Help Deidra Thompson

Donation protected
In the summer of 2014 my mother Deidra Thompson was bitten by a tick while at work. A few days later she was rushed to the ER nearly unconscious. She spent a few days in the hospital, and was released. The days, weeks, months, and years following have been a rollercoaster for her physically, mentally, and financially. She has been diagnosed with many ongoing ailments and health issues that all stem from that single tic bite. These health issues include fibromyalgia, arthritis, extremely high rheumatoid levels, memory loss, and a weakened immune system, among a host of other issues. We have struggled, but found a way to work through most of her health/financial issues. However, in March of this year(after a host of tests) doctors at KU Med Center found brain deterioration and diagnosed my mother with early onset dementia. As she always does, Deidra remained upbeat and optimistic about her diagnosis, but as of late her health has taken a turn. Her short term memory problems have progressed quite a bit over the last few months. She at times will forget where she is, has trouble finishing sentences, and is often very confused. I am currently visiting her in Phoenix and Wednesday night I found her completely un-responsive at her apartment. I called the paramedics and they rushed her to Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, AZ. After rounds of tests and 4 days in the hospital, they believe she is now experiencing seizures. Neurologists are not sure if the seizures are related to the dementia, however between the two issues, it is nearly impossible for her to work or generate any income. She is no longer allowed to drive, and cannot work for AT LEAST the next 30 days. My mother has a VERY small support system and immediate family, but between the help of some great friends of hers and myself she has always found a way to make it. At this time unfortunately, I do not think our help will be enough. My mother is the hardest worker I know, and would never ask for help unless it was absolutely necessary. At this time, it is more than necessary. Without the ability to drive or work for the next few months, she is going to need some help. My mother has spent her entire life helping others, and it's time we help her. Our goal is to raise enough money to get her through these next few months while we make plans and arrangements for the future. The next few months will be very hectic and a little financial help would relieve quite a bit of stress for her. ANY donation will help. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. Thank you so much.
