"Darwin's Burgers & Blues is not big and its not glitzy.  It's a little old house bursting with good food and fantastic blues music.  Founded in 1995, it was home of the blues in Atlanta.  After it took an economic stumble in the early years of the 21st century, Lindsay Wine & Jonathan Akin purchased the venue in 2011, invested time and money, and brought the club back to its original juke-joint popularity.  Today, Darwin's hosts the best local bands and the best touring acts coming through Atlanta.  The jams during the week attract the best local musicians and allow new players to be heard.  Because of the mix of young musicians and older, established groups, the club attracts people of all ages."

Based on what we have done over the last 5 years, we won a coveted Keeping the Blues Alive Award this year from the Blues Foundation in Memphis, TN.  On December 31, 2016, we will party in the little house where it all started for the last time.  After investing all of our money to bring the building back from being condemned, we are losing our current place and are moving to another space in Sandy Springs, GA.    We are hoping that the new location will provide a larger space with more seating, a larger kitchen to accomodate an expanded food menu & a more centralized location to Atlanta with better parking for commuters.  We are planning to extend business to Sundays and open every day for lunch!

But we need your help before we can open next year.  The space that we are moving to has no equipment or furniture.  We will need to purchase everything from sinks to fryers, ice bins to ice machines & rugs to pint glasses.  Any small amount that you can give will help!  Help us to continue the tradition of bringing the blues to Atlanta!

We sat down with Ms Kay and had a chat about Darwin's moving to a new location. Find out why we're moving and how she feels about leaving the original house.

We are officially out of our little house in Marietta and working hard to get things ready at the new place in Sandy Springs. We expect to be down for at least a couple more weeks, but things are coming along great so far! Kitchen equipment will start coming in next week along with a new larger stage and a full repaint inside! Check back for more updates as things come together and in the meantime get out and Support Live Music!!

Hi Marsha. We absolutely looked at leasing the Rocco's space but the rent is too high for us - more than double of what we signed in Sandy Springs. And although it had been remodeled, we would still need to purchase some kitchen equipment.

Have you considered moving into Rocco's location now that they are unfortunately closed? Seems like the perfect spot. Close to your current location, loads of parking, big inside and recently remodeled.
