My name is Crystal Viruette , I recently turned 30 years old.
Most 30 year old's celebrate a whole new beginning at this age , but , On August 3rd, 2018 I was diagnosed with Stage IV (4) Colon cancer.
Over the past year I have experienced various sicknesses and stomach related issues that would come and go, but being that I have always been relatively healthy my doctors would prescribe antibiotics and send me on my way.
On August 1st I was admitted to the ER for extreme pain in my lower abdomen, the doctors did a cat-scan and they came back with the results describing to me that "its a mess in there". My hospital team called in specialists to determine my prognosis. I am now diagnosed with two masses in my body, Stage IV colon cancer which means it has spread to my liver. I also have a tear in my colon that has linked to my bladder causing infection to my intestines.
On August 8th I had a surgery to insert a port for my chemotherapy treatments and to help clear up the infection in my intestines. My Oncologist has recommended for me to start chemotherapy IMMEDIATELY, in hopes to shrink the cancer in both my liver and colon. Depending on how well the chemo works will determine how many rounds of chemo I will need. They will eventually proceed to do a full surgery to remove the two masses of cancer. Over the next year I will hopefully be receiving on going treatment that will lead to my surgeries.
During my 2 week stay at the hospital , my insurance was maxed out leaving me to sort other options to afford my chemotherapy treatments and cure. I strongly believe that you only ask for help when it is out of your hands and you truly need it. Right now time is valuable , I am asking every family , friend or any person who has been affected by cancer to please help me to be able to receive my medical treatments.
I will never forget when the oncologist told me I have terminal stage 4 colon cancer because he also told me I have only 6 months to live. By God's grace and your help lets prove him wrong!
