Kendra’s husband Chris was in a horrific accident late Thursday night. He was out in the snow overnight before he was found. Kendra was in Florida visiting family.  He was very hypothermic and suffered severe injuries. He was flown to Denver and is at Denver Health in critical condition.   He will be there for some time and overall prognosis is unknown at this time.  Chris will obviously be out of work for a long time and Kendra will need to be in Denver. Any support you can provide to help with expenses would be incredibly  appreciated.  Thoughts and prayers are huge as well. ❤️

Chris and Kendra are back home in Steamboat! It was so great to see them settling in. They have very long road ahead and lot of adjustments in their lives. Chris will have to go back to Denver almost weekly for surgeries and check ups. Although he is in a great deal of constant pain and will be for months, he is still feeling very blessed to be alive. He is on a liquid diet for another six weeks or so. But he has been known to cheat just a little with Mac and cheese.! Kendra is ready to fire up the Nutri-bullet and make all kinds of fabulous smoothies. They are going to go through a lot of fresh fruit and veggies! So if you are stopping by to say hi, that is a great option for now. They are both so thankful for everyone’s support. I will try to post the video showing Chris leaving the hospital today. So blessed!!

Chris was moved into an acute physical therapy unit at Denver Health. His new room has a view of the mountains and that makes him happy! They are excited for his progress and the idea of returning home to Steamboat is becoming a reality. The doctors did confirm that they will need to surgically remove some of his fingers on his right hand. The timing of this is still to be determined. All in all, he is thankful and feels so blessed to have the love and support of so many friends and the community.

Some good news for Chris and Kendra over the last couple of days. Chris was moved out of ICU and into a progressive care unit. He has been able to stand on his own and they are talking about moving him to an in-patient physical therapy unit soon. I was able to see him today and he was in good spirits. To be able to laugh and keep his sense of humor through this ordeal is huge. The frostbite determination has still not been made and it may not happen for a while. While there is some color returning to his feet and hands, his fingers are still discolored and may need to be addressed surgically. Progress is slow and steady, but the recovery will be a long one. We have no idea when Kendra and Chris will be able to return home to Steamboat. They are forever thankful for the continued love and support. If you find yourself around Denver, he is responding well to visitors and vanilla milkshakes!

Here is an update from Kendra:

The up’s and down’s continue as the medical teams works to treat Chris’s injuries. There are still many details that are unknown regarding his recovery. His condition remains stable but still very serious. One of the next hurdles will be addressing the severe frostbite on his hands. He will be seen by the ophthalmologist soon to discuss the damage to his left eye and eye socket. Although the breathing tube has been removed, he is still struggling to swallow anything. Chris is strong enough to talk and would like everyone to know he is so happy to be alive and is thankful for the support, love, donations and kind words.

If you would like to send something, he is currently in Room A3, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, Denver Health Hospital. Flowers/live plants are not allowed in the ICU, but he can receive cards, balloons, stuffed animals, etc.

Thank you all for cheering us on and helping us through this difficult time.
