Help Chestnut the little otter cub

In the next few weeks, the UK Wild Otter Trust will be taking another little orphaned otter cub into our rehabilitation unit: Chestnut. She's currently being cared for at the wonderful Buckfastleigh otters and butterfly centre. We often work closely with Buckfastleigh centre and they do amazing work -including providing interim care for animals in need like Chestnut. 


When Chestnut was first found and rescued in South Devon, we were worried she might not make it: little cubs are at high risk of dehydration. However she has since enjoyed some hearty meals and is eating and drinking well (as you can see here!).

As we did previously with Hazel and Nipper - a couple of little orphaned cubs that are still in our care and doing very well - we'll be taking Chestnut on and starting a full rehabilitation process, teaching the tiny cub how to hunt, swim, stay wary of humans, and generally be an otter! 


To help us do this we would truly appreciate any donations you'd be willing to give to help us cover the costs of an expanded rehabilitation pen and food for Chestnut to eat. It costs £2,500 to rehabilitate a single otter cub — Hazel and Nipper proved to have whopping appetites, so we're expecting the same of Chestnut!
