Help Charli get new wheels

My name is Karen Gill and I live in Watervliet with Charli and my significant other Chris Osborn. This is campaign is for Charli. I am Charlis mother. Charli is a vivacious, smart, funny, beautiful 10 year old girl who would love to be able to go out in to her community more than she currently can.  Unfortunately the cars that we have coupled with Charli's most recent growth spurts have made it increasingly difficult to get her in to them and be able to go anywhere.  Having a vehicle that would allow us to just wheel Charli in and go would be a life changer. And it's a life changer for a girl who has had a very challenging life in her short 10 years. Charli (otherwise known as Charlotte)  suffered a massive stroke at birth.   At 6 months old Charli developed a rare, catastrophic seizure disorder known as Infantile Spasms (West Syndrome) which caused her to have upwards of 500 seizures a day at her worst.  This led us eventually to Detroit Children's Hospital when she was 22 months old to have the left half of her brain removed to try and stop her seizures.  The surgery did it's job but she has subsequently had 30 surgeries since 2010.  Charli works very hard at physical therapy but with the multiple surgeries she has gone thru there has been a lot of missed school and a lot of missed therapy.  This has caused some regression in Charli's ability to walk, which has made it very difficult for  us to be able to transfer in and out of her wheelchair and especially in and out of the cars.  At 4'7 and 117 lbs it isn't as easy as it used to be to just pick her up and put her in the car and go.  This is why having a van that we could just wheel Charli in to would be life changing for our family.  It would mean more trips in to the community to do fun things, outings with family , more ease to get to therapies.    Charlotte DESERVES this. She deserves to be able to go out and do things that would be fun and exciting and kid friendly. Not just do things medical related or therapy related.  She deserves to have transportation that is safe and easy for her to enter and exit.  It is very hard for me to write this but Charli deserves the best and as her mother it's my job to get her the very best. All of the funds collected in the campaign will go directly to the purchase of an accessible van for Charlotte and any related expenses to the van.
