Help Chandler walk and talk

Donation protected
Chandler had Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) at 5 days old and majority of his bowel died. Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a devastating disease that affects mostly the intestine of premature infants. The wall of the intestine is invaded by bacteria, which cause local infection and inflammation that can ultimately destroy the wall of the bowel (intestine). Doctors weren't sure if he'd come out alive, but we kept praying.

Because his bowel was too short to do anything, he became dependent on Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) and couldn't have anything by mouth and was hospitalised for a year.

TPN has helped saved Chandler's life, but has also caused a lot of line infection or sepsis where he could've died. To help with those infections, Chandler was put on a lot of high-grade antibiotics where it destroyed good bacterias, cells and could cause other medical issues. Unfortunately, Chandler has difficulty with his muscles and speech (possible cerebal palsy and dyspraxia), so he struggles to move from one position to another, to walk, and to communicate at now 3 years old.

We don't get any benefit like healthcare card, carer's allowance, or therapy funding to help his mobility and speech, because we're NZ citizens. I've applied for so many fundings in Australia and NZ, but rejected as we're NZ citizens who live in Melbourne. To help Chandler walk and talk, we need at least $10,000 a year for intensive therapies, Ankle Foot Orthosis (AFO), kaye walker, and hip support.

Any amount that you are able to contribute will mean a lot towards Chandler's progress.
