Help Cass and Rebecca

Donation protected
Last September Cass was in tift regional hospital because he was short of breath and swelling. He was there for 2 weeks. During that time he had a thorocentesis ( tube put in his chest to drain the fluid from around his lungs), and a broncoscopy (scope put down in his lungs to look). When he was discharged he was feeling some better as they had him on multiple medications to manage the symptoms but we did not have a diagnosis to treat it. He has had appointments with a lung and heart specialist in Tifton. He was given the choice of 3 hospitals to include shands, Emory, and mayo. After much deliberation and prayer, the decision was made and he was referred to Shands hospital in Gainesville, Fl for further evaluation. In November Rebecca gave birth to a stillborn baby boy, Jackson Walter, at 6 months gestation. Cass went February 6th to Shands for what was supposed to be an echocardiogram to check his heart at 9 am and be back at 1pm for a thorocentesis and repeat bronchoscapy and then come home. After the echocardiogram while they were waiting until 1 they got a call to come back to the ER and for him to be admitted. They did a paracentesis to remove fluid from around his heart that day. Since then he has had another thorocentesis, a wedge resection, a pericardial window, and biopsies done on his lungs. He was diagnosed with sarcoidosis. On the 11th Rebecca's nanny, Eugenia Browning, passed away. On the 13th, Rebecca came home for the viewing and stayed until after the funeral on the 14th. When she got back she noticed his right arm was swollen. They found a blood clot in it. He was put on Heparin to thin his blood. His platelet count went down and they tested him for Heparin Induced Thrombocytopenia. He now has to list Heparin as an allergy. He had a heart cath done yesterday to check the pressure around his heart. This told them that it looks like he needs the pericardial sac removed from around his heart to allow the heart to pump more effectively and hopefully help the body stop forming fluid around his heart and lungs. They plan to do the surgery Monday. This will be a major surgery and he will be on the ventilator for a while during post OP. He will also have a lengthy recovery from this surgery and will be unable to return to work right away (at least 8 weeks). They have been in Gainsville for a month at this point and will be there 2 to 3 more weeks at the minimum. He still has the tubes pulling fluids from around his heart and lungs at this time. Please keep them, their boys, and all of both families in your prayers as we try to support them in every way they can. Some of us have been going every weekend to take the boys to visit. Many have asked how they can help so we have set this account so that if anyone feels led can have an Avenue to help. Thank you to everyone that has called, texted, and checked in on them in this time. most of all, thanks for all of the prayers and please keep them coming. We are confident that our God will continue to watch over Cass throughout this. Help us with medical bills,  gas so the boys can visit, and normal bills at home that don't stop because they have not worked in a month at this point and are unsure when the will.
