We’re trying to help raise money for Casey and Chelsea Smith. They were on their way to a travel game in Houston, Tx on Saturday afternoon when they got into a major car accident. Details about the accident have yet to be released, but Casey and Chelsea are not in good shape. We will try to keep everyone updated as we receive updates.

Any donations can be made here on GoFundMe, or you can message me, Cj Gamble, through Facebook to collect any other donations that they or their dogs may need. All donations will go directly to helping pay for their medical bills, and any other possible bills that come up, like their rent or water or electric bill to ensure that they have a place to come home to.

Casey is the assistant coach to the Texas Brahmas NA3HL team here at Nytex. He also is the Head coach for the 14U Brahmas travel team, and the head coach for Grapevine/Colleyville’s Varsity Hockey team. He also does lots of off-ice training with the kids as well. He and Chelsea have been happily married for a few years are the proud owners to two very loving rescue dogs. They are both wonderful people, and very loving and caring with big hearts.

No donation is too small to help them out in their time of need. In the meantime, I will be taking care of their dogs with some help from Casey’s NA3 boys and other close friends here at Nytex. We are all praying for the best for them and hope to see a positive outcome or update soon.

Hey everyone, just wanted to say thank you all so much for keeping the gofundme page alive! So sorry for the lack of updates, there hasn’t really been much to really share. If you would like to keep up more in depth, Casey has been sharing his progress on his Facebook account. He’s been doing very well with his physical therapy and is recovering. I believe that Chelsea’s parents have posted a couple of updates via Facebook as well, but I’m not comfortable sharing those updates without their permission on a public platform. Please keep praying, all of the prayers are so very much appreciated and are clearly working wonders

Update from Casey via Facebook;

Ok everyone, I don't have too much to update at this time. Chelsea is still doing well early on in her recovery. I have decided I am going to start documenting my recovery efforts both for my sake and those of you who want to know. So our accident was just over 6 weeks ago now. My recovery has also been slow. Here I am in my wheelchair. This has been my only means of transporting myself around for weeks now. The muscle loss in my leg is quite substantial now. My whole body is actually losing a lot of muscle. I also can not fully straighten my left leg and arm. However I am getting around a lot better than I was weeks ago and I have greatly increased the mobility I have in all of my injured limbs. I have a DR appointment this Thursday. I am hoping that he will clear me to continue my out patient rehab very soon. I am ready to get out of this wheelchair and start trying to get back on my feet. Stay tuned for more updates I Chelsea and I move through our recovery. Thank you all for the continued support.

Update from Casey;
Today is officially 1 month since Chelsea and I got into our accident. Hardest month of my life to date. Chelsea is still in the hospital and continues to improve day by day. The Neuro doc that came in while I was visiting yesterday was very impressed with her level of activity. As for me, I am getting more mobile everyday but am still limited to nothing on my left leg/side. I'm struggling with constant pain everyday but trying my best to take as few of my pain meds as possible. I'm also having trouble with my sleep. Way to much on my mind and pain comes in the middle of the night. However I was able to get out yesterday and see my teams play as well. It was nice to get to the rink and watch my boys play. Big thank you to my 14U brahmas team yesterday. They threw the coaches a little breakfast party after the big win. They also spoiled me with some pretty awesome gifts. Thank you everyone for your continued support. It means more to me than I can explain.

Update from Casey:
Most of you know by now Chelsea and I were in a terrible car accident Nov. 17th. I have debated on how much I wanted to share about this, but I feel its helpful to me to show everyone. So beware, the pictures are not pretty. What I will share right now is that this has already been the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with in my life. I have been severely injured and so hasy wife Chelsea. We are both making progress in our recoveries. I will keep Chelsea's recovery details more private than mine for the time being. Just know she is doing great for her stage of recovery. The hardest thing for me is not my own pain, its watching her and knowing I cant do much of anything to help her recover faster. My injuries are substantial. They are in the photos but go as follows. 1. 5 fractures in my left leg and a steel rod holding it in place. Broken hip socket and shattered pelvis, the pictures shows what is holding me together. Broken elbow with screw holding it in place. 2 broken ribs and a lot of bruising and lacerations. Thank you to my family and friends who have helped us so far. And thank you to everyone who has donated to us. There are so many of you that it overwhelms me how many people have reached out to help. Thank you!!

***Im not going to post the photos because they are not mine to share, but Casey has posted a few of the truck and of his xrays on his Facebook.***
