Help Carl get the Medical care he deserves!

Donation protected
On 10/28/18 my step-dad Carl Tauchert was driving home on a very windy night. A tree fell and landed on his truck causing him to become paralyzed. Since he is a veteran his only form of insurance is the VA. Unfortunately a law was passed just this year that they do not cover any of his medical bills since he was not injured while in active duty. Since he has "no insurance" the #1 trauma hospital in Cincinnati UC medical center transferred him out of there ICU where he had remained in critical condition to the Cincinnati VA's ICU where he is now still in critical condition. The VA is understaffed and not equipped to care for him. We have filed for Medicaid and he keeps getting denied claiming he makes to much money. He however will never be able to work again. He currently can not even breathe on his own and all of these places only care about money instead of saving his life! He is lucky to even be alive. Ive looked into many different organizations trying to get help for him however most of them only help vets who were hurt during active duty or help paralyzed individuals get into sports. He had full coverage insurance on his truck but the insurance company said they will not pay for any of the medical bills. We have hit a stand still and do not know where else to turn to try to get help or shine a light on these issues that I'm sure other people have faced. We are in desperate need of help or a voice to speak where people would listen. He needs to go to a hospital where he can get the treatment needed, he will need at the minimum of 6 months rehabilitation(which is currently not an option no one will accept him in because he does not have insurance. He would need thousands of dollars a week that neither him nor our family has) once he is able to come home his house is not wheelchair friendly so every thing will need accommodations to make it accessible for him to live the most comfortable life that he can. He was a very active man always on the go, hunting, fishing, spending time with family, & his grandkids. He has a very long road ahead of him for recovery to get back to the most normal life he can possibly live under the circumstances. Any thing would be greatly appreciated even if its just your thoughts and prayers and shares!! Thank you!!
