Help bring Oscar to Canada

Donation protected
Oscar is a homeless dog I met while on vacation in Santorini, Greece. He only came out at night since it was so hot as most stray dogs slept during the day to hide from the sun.

Oscar found me one night by the pool and hung out with me and my friends for the evening (this is where we named him Oscar). He was incredibly docile and only looking for a good belly rub. He stayed with all of us untill we eventually went to bed. The next evening, Oscar came and found us again. This time, he would follow me to my room at the end of the night.

I hung out with him outside my room for a bit, gave him water and all night, he wouldn't leave my side. I went in my room to get ready for bed and about an hour after I left him, I checked outside my door and he was still there. I stayed another half hour with him before going to sleep. The next morning he was gone and it was 37 degrees that day and our last day in Santorini.

Oscar is no more than 1-2 years old and having to survive the heat, dependance on pool water and friendly tourists for food killed me inside. I reached out to numerous shelters in hopes they find him.

To my surprise, the Santorini Animal Welfare Association - SAWA were able to find him. He was found on the black beach sleeping under a beach chair. Shelter workers were amazed by his calmness and how great he was with children and other animals. Now that he's been found, I am looking to bring him to Canada where he can live out a long, healthy, normal life with his new familly.

Importing Oscar to Canada is expensive and I could really use the help. Below is a breadown of the costs I am expecting to incur. I am working closely with Santorini Animal Welfare Association - SAWA and the Greek Animal Rescue Organization to help bring down the costs so any funding that is collected but not used will be donated to the Santorini Animal Welfare Association - SAWA for ticks medication. They house 130 homeless dogs and have been instrumental in finding Oscar.

Santorini Vaccine to bored the ferry: 50euros (74$ Cnd)
Ferry - Santorini to Athens: 50euros (74$ Cnd)
Athens Shelter Monthly Fee: 100euros (147$ Cnd)
Rabies and Vet Check: 200euros ($294 Cnd)
Flight Home: 900euros (1320$ Cnd)
Crate for flight: 100euros (147$ Cnd)

The costs above are estimates and likely to change. Most airlines have flight embargos at the moment and Oscar may be sheltered until October. We are looking at a traveler that is flying to Canada who may be willing to escort the dog which would be cheaper and more likely allowed with him in the cabin. This may help bring down the monthly shelter costs.

Everyone who has helped find and deal with Oscar have briefed me on his condition and all describe him as a special dog. Unbelievebly friendly, happy and great with people and animals. He deserves a good life and I will ensure he gets just that. Thank you all for the donation and even just taking the time to read this.
