Help Bring Colin Home

Donation protected

**UPDATE 28th January 2019**

Thank you all for rallying over the weekend and for all of your generous donations.

We have received a contribution from a close family friend which allows us to confirm the necessary arrangements to bring Colin back to Scotland.

We reiterate that any funds received over and above what has been required for the assisted flight will be directed in Colin's favour to facilitate his rehabilitation.

Thank you again.

**UPDATE 25th January 2019**

I’m in disbelief that I am having to write this, but unfortunately Colin has NOT been able to fly home on the flight organised by the medical repatriation company today (Friday 25th).

The money originally raised has been used for the return flight for the medic and the flight that was scheduled for Colin today. As a result, there are no funds left.

The new quote for Colin to get a stretcher flight home with the assistance of 2 medics is £12,500.

I have altered the goal on this GoFundMe page to reflect the new quote.

Our medic went to visit Colin in the Chinese hospital and was disappointed to see that Colin’s physical condition is worse than we and the medical repatriation company were lead to believe through medical reports we received. The medic has advised us it is not safe for Colin to fly home with one medic and has recommended he is flown home on a stretcher with the assistance of 2 medics.

Naturally we are frustrated and upset by this development as we were so close to getting Colin back onto Scottish soil.

We are incredibly grateful to those of you who have donated and shared already, but if you are able to share again to spread this even further we’d be extremely appreciative.

Scottish family seeks your help to fly their father home following a stroke suffered in China

Colin C. Macpherson is a Fife-based father who embarked on the journey of a lifetime by moving to China to teach English at the Hunan Railway Professional Technology College a few years ago. Sadly, on October 21st 2018 this adventure was cut short when he suffered from a cerebral haemorrhage and a stroke. Since then he has been in hospital and has been cared for by Chinese medical professionals. He is no longer on life support but this could change at any moment. He has lost the ability to walk and is unable to communicate coherently.  This has come as a shock to the whole family as Colin has always been a fit man.

His Chinese visa runs out on February 10th and he is not able to extend it as he is unable to work. We, his family, need to bring him back to the UK ASAP to receive further treatment - and we can’t do this without your help.

The cost of the flight home to Scotland (on a commercial flight in a lay-flat seat with a medic to accompany him) is £10,000. So far, we have £2,500 to go towards the cost, but we still need to find £7,500 in a short space of time. As a family, we just don’t have this amount of money available. After contacting the Foreign Office and speaking with various legal people, we are trying crowdfunding.

Colin has always been a team player and always gave as much as he could to whatever community he was in. We hope that people will be able to give something back to him :

- He was the youngest ever rugby player in Division 1 when he played for Jedburgh.
- He played for South of Scotland rugby team at semi-junior level
- In the 80's and early 90's he was a keen member of the amateur dramatics club in Stirling.
- Throughout the 90's and early 00's he was an integral part of Blairgowrie RFC. He was over the years Treasurer and Secretary. He was even awarded Clubman of the year! Additionally, he coached the junior teams every Sunday come rain or shine!

We know January is a tough time of the year to ask for money, but if everyone who knows Colin or his immediate family could spare something we’d be able to bring him home. If you are unable to donate yourself, please could you help us by sharing this campaign on your social media?

Thank you.
