Help Brianna Watts Attend College!
My Name is Brianna, a high school student from Bronx NY I currently attended Bronx Preparatory High School.
I was recently accepted to twelve colleges and universities. While this is a wonderful and exciting time and opportunity, it took a lot for me to get here.
When I was eight, my mother was incarcerated due to drug addiction, which resulted in me and my sister being placed into kinship for 2 years. This was an extremely difficult time, and my family was faced with numerous challenges such as separation. I was able to maintain a positive attitude because I knew that’s what my mother wanted for me.
Upon my mother’s release and completion of a drug treatment and reunification program, I was placed into her custody. While this was an exciting time for me, we were again met with challenges including homelessness. At the age of ten, I resided in a family shelter with my mother. During our stay, my mother struggled to provide for us, she worked on maintaining her sobriety. After some time attended some night classes to better her education all while volunteering and giving back to her community.
I have always been ambitious throughout my childhood, and so I am determined to complete my college schooling that I may provide myself with a greater life and be a help to pay it forward.
With all the adversities I have had to live through and overcome to get this far I won't give up now. I wanna be able to give back to someone that has the love of learning as I do. Education is key when it comes to bettering oneself, I know with your support and God’s Blessings I will be able to complete my Education to Achieve my dream.
I really appreciate all your contributions towards my educational endeavors!
Thank you so much for your support!
