Help Bri go to NYU

My name is Bri Laurenceau and I’m coming to you in a time of need. I am a rising junior, an AEMES scholar, and a chemistry major. At Smith is where I have been able to grow, find community, and explore a sea of interests. In an attempt to explore the intersection of chemistry and computer science, I applied to NYU’s summer program. Under Smith’s encouragement, I was going to enroll in two classes: Intro to Game Design and Intro to Programming for Games. I am grateful to have this opportunity through Smith and I know that it would help me define what my future in these two fields would look like. However, my ability to take part in this is in jeopardy. Yesterday I received notification that my NYU expenses (tuition and media fees) will total around $6000. Smith has committed itself to make these opportunities accessible to it’s low income students but I received only $1,300 in financial aid. My ability to meet these expenses is further impeded by personal hardship that I have faced in these last months. I am turning to you because I need help. It was only today that I was notified of what the full cost of participation would be and NYU expected payment today. I have asked for an extension but even with this extra time, I still don’t have the means to put together the rest on my own. Anything helps and it will be greatly appreciated.
