Help Axi with her apprenticeship!
After being let go from my job back in February, I began my apprenticeship at Fantasy 2 Flesh Images in Marietta. While I've been putting in my time at the shop, it's all voluntary, meaning I don't get paid for the hours I spend at the shop (minus the very rare tips my mentor's clients give me). It's been a rough ride, but it's helped to push my artistic horizons outward and forward. I'm currently working on pig skin. To further my education with working in the field, I'll be tattooing on myself to practice and learn before it's time to ink up other people.
The inks and needles/needle tubes I'm using right now are great for practicing on fruits/pigs: the inks are thinner/lower quality, the needles are awkward sizes that are rarely used, and the tubes are old and made out of a material that rusts. Again, these are great for practice, but I will not be able to use them on people or myself (nor would I want to). My first order of inks, needles, needle tubes, a more efficient power supply/foot pedal, and other supplies will be going entirely towards furthering my education and career in the age old tradition.
This is where you guys come in. Surprise, surprise, my first supply order is NOT gonna be cheap. The good news is that I am able to use a liner and shader machine that has been provided by the shop. This drastically helps with the price, though the foot pedal and power supply tend to stop up quite a bit, which could cause pain for future clients (and me, while I practice) as the needle tends to stop while it's still in the skin, so both of them will need replaced.
I spent a few hours creating a list and determining the totals for everything I'll need before I can move on to human skin. It would be an honor if the cool people from the internet could help out, since I'm still technically unemployed. I've been applying for part time jobs. It's been difficult finding someone who can work with my schedule.
If we beat the goal, the extra money will be put towards getting my own tattoo machines!
