Arts in Parts hanging the new sign, 2016Arts in Parts was established in December 2012 in response to Hurricane Sandy's affect on Rockaway, NY.
After the storm we felt an urgency to get the youth of Rockaway back on their feet. By offering free workshops and a community space- we work to engage the youth in developing creative problem solving, team work skills and appreciation of nature.
Over the past 4 years, we have run year round programming at our space on Beach 96th Street.
We offer afterschool and weekend workshops, summer intensives, home schooling and community events . We focus on ecology, nutrition and art. We often work with farms, museums, schools and other like minded organizations. Our programming is lead by a unique group of artists, teachers, chefs, scientists, farmers, poets and activists.
All of our programs are free or 'pay-what-you-can'
Our hope is to empower the next generation of Rockaway to be open-minded critical thinkers actively engaged in their community and world.

NO SCHOOL Showcase, 2016As Rockaway continues to restructure, a booming interest from greater New York City has put our real estate in jeopardy. The financial aspects of maintaining a free education center have become a much greater challenge. We are hoping to use GoFundMe to offset the cost of our space moving forward...
