One of the great humanitarians of our time needs your help. Anson “Wink” Musselman is fighting a rare form of lymphoma and he’s in the fight of his life. We’re raising money to help Anson get the best treatment available  to insure his survival.

Money raised will be used for Anson to travel to see a specialist at Harvard Medical Center, sending tissue samples to various medical centers in the US and Europe, and experimental treatments.

Anson is prepared to fight like hell, let’s give him the tools to help him win.

From Anson:

Hi everyone. I just wanted to give you an update. Back in January, things were looking pretty bleak. The first two treatments (EPOCH + Velcade, then ICE + Darzalex) hadn’t worked. By Christmas it was pretty clear that the second treatment wasn’t working and the cancer was getting worse. I ended up at St. Mary’s in Long Beach for about a week followed by a stint at Loma Linda. They patched me up so I could begin the third treatment.

Luckily the third treatment seems to be working. They put me on an immunotherapy called Opdivo which trains the immune system to attack the cancer. Also they put me on daily radiation for a few weeks. I’m not feeling 100 percent, but they tell me I’m finally in partial remission. It’s the first good news I’ve gotten since this whole charade began. My hair has grown back and my energy levels are beginning to recover. I’m still wafer thin, but I suspect the weight will come back as my health recovers.

There are several scans scheduled for the coming months, and I’m not out of the woods yet, but things have certainly begun to improve since I last wrote to you. Back in early January, I recorded a “Cancer Christmas” album with a bunch of old buddies. It was a welcome distraction from all of the medical treatments. I’ll be sure to make that available to all of you when it’s finished.

The doctor has told me to rest, get moderate exercise, eat good food, and hang tight while they check to see if Opdivo continues to do its job. I am looking forward to recovering if that’s in the cards. I certainly hope it is. I can’t thank you enough for your support. Crazy year.

Sincerely,
Anson

From Anson:

Hello all. I want to thank you for your generosity. I also wanted to give an update.
A recent CT scan showed shrinkage in a big tumor (good), but a more recent PET scan still showed “persistent activity” (bad). The doctors seemed to scramble. They’re now talking about bone marrow transplants, adding a more heavy-duty kind of chemo, hospitalization, and immunotherapy was mentioned.

Based solely upon how I’d been feeling, I got the impression that I was on the upswing. It looks like I’m not out of the woods yet.

I’ve been following the guidance of the Dana Farber (Harvard) expert in consultation with my doctor here in LA. Because of the discussion of a radical change of plan, I’m making arrangements to see the guy in Boston ASAP to get a better understanding of where things stand and what the prognosis is and what is to be expected. Thank you so much for helping me with the resources that will be required to fight this thing properly and come out the other end. As this continues to unfold, I will attempt to give updates as often as I can (hopefully nothing morbid).

This continues to be a trippy situation and I promise I’m doing all I can to come through this alive. My cancer theme tune is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv1VP7j6YRg&t=31s
