What do you do when you have worked hard, done everything by the book to build your dream home but someone robs your family of that opportunity? Most people get stuck in their misfortunes, blame the world and never try to move forward. That is not the case for our family.
This local contractor stole $25,000.00 from us leaving us with a total loss of $36,000.00. That is $25k to the contractor, $7k in closing cost, $3k of interest on the construction loan for over a year, and $1k for insurance on the vacant lot. We contacted several attorneys, reach out to the state and county for assistance and was not able to reach any resolution in recovering close to $40k we lose.
Still, we didn't give up. I, Roselyne Dorval, recently posted a video on my Facebook page to update my friends and family why we had to cut cost and would be living in an RV despite being pregnant. The local news caught wind of the story and investigated the case on our family's behalf. When I made my video, I wanted to raise awareness about what happened to our family, so this company would not be able to do it to others.
I had no idea when the news investigation aired so many people have contacted us wanting to help. Now, what? Our family has not asked for a single hand out. Instead, we were determined to work hard and build this home regardless of how long it takes.
However, we want to allow the community to come together to assist us. We honestly would be greatly appreciative if we could get our family out of the RV and into our dream home sooner rather than later. With all the division going on in the world today this would be the perfect opportunity for us to come together.
No contribution is too small or too large. I firmly believe the universe has grand plans for our family despite these setbacks. We are the very definition of resilience and what the American dream is made up of.
