Alex Bornstein RECOVERY campaign!

Donation protected
On the evening of Tuesday May1st, Alex Bornstein was working out on his Bowflew at home in Virginia when his left arm started to go numb. As a nursing student only ONE day away from graduating nursing school, Alex knew this wasn't good. He asked his wife, Janet, if he looked ok and she told him the left side of his face was sagging. He told her to take him to the hospital immediately. Shortly after arriving to the hospital he was MediVac'd in a helicopter to Riverside Regional Medical in Newport News, VA. When his wife Janet got to the hospital, he was still conscious. She asked him how the helicopter ride was and he smiled and said "great!" It turns out that Alex had a brain aneurysm. He went in for immediate brain surgery to stop the bleeding in his brain and was put in a medically induced coma. He had a second brain surgery on Thursday May 3rd that his doctors hope has stopped the bleeding in his brain. After he was taken off the medications that kept him in the medically induced coma, he unfortunately stayed in a coma and did not wake up. This was not the news we had hoped for.  We have reason to be hopeful as Alex is young and otherwise healthy. The swelling in his brain is slowly going down and we are hopeful that will continue so he can come out of the coma.

His immediate family is making arrangements for what may be a longer more protracted time frame than expected. Alex's doctors say he could remain in a coma for several more days, weeks or months. Alex's wife Janet has been by his side the entire time. Alex's sister Alison and his parents have flown in to be with him. Alex's wife Janet has lost his income and cannot work herself while dealing with this tragedy, being with her husband, and making daily medical decisions. Their household income has been reduced to zero overnight.  Janet is going to need our help to pay the bills so she can be with her husband Alex.  She will also need help with his medical bills. If he comes out of the coma he will have a long and costly road to recovery. If he stays in the coma, costs for long term care are enormous.  Please give now to help this young family get through this unimaginable tragedy.
