We are the family of Abbie Sontag, the most positive beam of light to cross anyone’s path and anyone who has the privilege of knowing her will agree.

Abbie and her Lovely partner Pete had only been in Thailand for a couple of days before the accident happened. They were travelling from Phuket to Khao Lak in a local taxi when they were involved in a head on collision with a lorry, where they have both suffered severe injuries and were admitted to Phuket hospital Bangkok. We were receiving regular updates from Pete after he had his operation and was on the road to recovery, he informed us every step of the way and was giving us the positive energy that we needed.

Abbie’s injuries consisted of 3 broken ribs, ruptured spleen and bowel along with a break in her spine. She has had the operation to repair her spleen, bowel and broken ribs and is awaiting her operation on her spine which is due in the next few days.

Her Mum, Stepdad and Sister got the first available flight to the hospital the next day after the accident and are currently at her bedside. When they arrived they made the discovery that abbie doesn’t have any travel insurance and will not be covered for any of the operations she has had and the operation that is due.. she believed she had travel insurance with her bank, but she doesn’t.

This is where our call for help comes in. This doesn’t deserve to happen to anyone and for us especially our sweet, caring, positive, brave and courageous Abbie.

Please can we ask for anyone to make a donation towards her surgery, it doesn’t matter how big or small.. we just need to get her well and home. If 3500 people, just a tiny fraction of the population donated just £10 we would have reached our goal to help Abbie.. that’s a pack of cigarettes, not even 2 pints of beer in London and the takeaway you was going to have tonight.

We are greatly thankful for all the kind souls in word and thankful to have Abbie and Pete with us today.

Hi everyone, it’s Pete!

I just wanted to let you know that we are recovering well back in UK soil.

The process is a little slow in being referred to the relevant specialists this end, but we are getting better by the day. Abbie needs to see a fracture specialist, but is up and walking. She has been so strong throughout this ordeal, I couldn’t be prouder.

We truly believe that we are only in the position we are today, thanks to your generosity and love. We cannot thank you enough for helping both financially and emotionally, you have made a horrible situation so much more bearable.

Thank you all so much ❤️

After Pete being readmitted and making a good recovery and Abbie’s op being successful our dream team were discharged and are now back in the UK. They are currently going through procedures with their gps and the hospital here, to start their recovery plan back home. None of this would have been able to be done this quick and they wouldn’t be able to be home with their families without the on going support and donations from everyone, we keep saying it and we will say it 1000 more times we are so so so grateful and thankful for the generosity of everyone that has helped.. honestly it cannot be said enough.

Thank you for helping us reach our goal and bringing the family back together, this could not of been done without out everyone.

Pete and Abbie are now focusing on making a full recovery, getting back on their feet and back to their everyday lives.

They thank you all from the bottom of their hearts.

Just a little update on Abbie and Petes treatment so far..

As you all know abbie has had her back operation and it has only been positive from there for her she’s sat up, stood up and taken her first steps.. she’s done incredible and we are so so so proud of her!

But Pete on the other hand has pushed himself a little too hard and was then readmitted Wednesday, he has an infection but the hospital have it under control with plenty on antibiotics and morphine. He has improved over the past 2 days, So fingers crossed he’s on the mend.. now that abbie is on the road to recovery, he can now hopefully relax and let himself get better..

A very big thank you to Natalie, Russ and Ellis (Mum, Step dad and Sister) for being the biggest support unit for the 2 of them. They have been impeccable.. They have stayed so strong, they have just been amazing.

We cannot thank everyone enough for the support.. people are still donating right now you’re all INCREDIBLE. We thank you again from the bottom of all of our hearts Xx
