Help a Black Mom Protect Her Child

Many women of privilege are reaching out to me asking what can I do right now to support racial justice. Here's something you can do that is urgently needed.
It's time we make sure #BlackLivesMatter in the child welfare system and family courts, too. Instead of safe havens for children, the child welfare system is driven by politics, profit and a culture of secrecy that harms children. The racial disproportionality and disparities are extreme.
We must change the system.
I'm Karen Fleshman, Esq. she/hers, founder of Racy Conversations, and I need your help- quickly- to support a mother of a child who has been repeatedly physically abused by their father. All of the money raised will go to her.
Because it is a contested case and the father is denying the abuse, the legal fees will be upwards of $10,000 and out of reach for the child's mother. Self help clinics and pro-bono requests in her area have been unsuccessful and time has run out so she needs money for an attorney fees or a brave pro-bono attorney with experience dealing with malignant narcissistic fathers in this setting ASAP.
The mother is an amazing parent who is being battered by the system and her ex who use narcissist abuse, racial and gender bias, false assumptions and psychological warfare to neutralize her and keep the child in harm's way. The family court system in her state has a history of favoring white fathers over mothers of color. Because of her judge's notoriety as biased, stubborn and unfair, it was hard to get any attorney to take her case. Her state also has a DCFS/CPS system with a history of leaving children in abusive homes after obvious cases of abuse are found "unsubstantiated" despite the child's testimony and signs of abuse. Children have lost their lives because the system refused to protect them.
We are a part of that system and we say: no more. I am raising $10,000 for the mother's legal fees, and I ask women of privilege to volunteer to be a circle of support for this mother.
