Help a family devestated by suicide

Donation protected
On the 31st July Family & Friend attended the funeral service for Jack Gilbert our beloved friend & Loved one who died on Wednesday 4th July 2018, aged just 28 years old.

Having known Jack for sometime I didn’t ever think for 1 minute I would be writing something like this.

Jack Gilbert a brother, son, husband and Friend was a fun loving and big hearted soul,he was also a dedicated loving father to his gorgeous 2 year old son Archie.

Jack’s family lost this special person and Little Archie lost a father to suicide.

No one in the family or friends circle realised that behind Jack’s massive smile was so much pain, and it is this haunting thought that will forever remain a question for us all, why did we not see how sad Jack was underneath that smile.

Jack had dedicated his life to being there for others and his son was his life, his everything, which is why none of this makes sense. He was hard working, caring, and always had a smile that was so gentle; he touched the lives of many and to lose him in such a way is an absolute shock and tragedy that will haunt us all forever.

For The Family loosing Jack so quickly and unexpectedly has left everyone in absolute shock and despair. The life him and little Archie was building together has been stolen from them and Jess is now faced with raising a child without his father around.

Through this page I not only want to support my friend Jess to help support raising Archie, but bring light and attention to the male suicide epidemic that is happening. Such a permanent decision often made because of a temporary problem has life long devastating outcomes that ripples across our society, the pain and impact of This loss is so real, and the agony that is to follow dealing with the reality for Archie of his  Daddy being gone, the countless unanswered questions, and the acceptance that lives will be lived without Jack forever, is something our friend and her little boy will feel forever.

Knowing that our Archie will never know the joy of spending time with his dad-breaks all our hearts in the most indescribable way.

Lives are often built with the outlook that both parents will be there to provide for there children but unfortunately that is now not possible.

I am hoping to raise funds to help Jess out in supporting Archie with what ever he needs both now and in the future to ease the financial burden brought by through the trauma that has been experienced.

I would also appreciate if you could share this page with the hope that Jack’s story is met with compassion, understanding and abundant generosity.  I would also like to draw light to the issue of male suicide and hope that this page reaches someone who may be feeling like there is no hope and would like to let you know that there is.  Suicide is a permanent solution to an often temporary problem and your life has so much value and purpose so I encourage you to speak to someone who can help you navigate your journey.  There is hope…. I promise, and throughout this campaign I’ll be promoting the Charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) among others, but believe me there is always help there!

I’m going to be taking part in several events over the next 12 months and my plan is to go from Couch 2 IronMan to help raise funds and awareness for this devastating cause.

Just for anybody whose not sure what IronMan is it’s a Triathlon consisting of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile (42.20 km) run, raced in that order and without a break. It is widely considered one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world and I’m genuinely new to all this only competing in my first 10k race last month.

Thank you for reading this request for funding which will go direct to the family as they are in need of our help! I thank you in advance for your kindness no matter how small your contribution.

I have now secured my place onto several events:
12/08 - Tatton Park 10K
08/09 - North West Tough Mudda (10mile)
30/09- Cheshire Triathlon (my first triathlon)
07/10 - Rochdale Half Marathon
03/11 - Tatton Half Marathon
14/07 - IronMan Bolton.
