Help Dennis Get New Lungs

Hello, and thank you for taking a moment of your time in reading and sharing Dennis’s story.
Dennis is 66 years of age and he has worked very hard all his life to sustain his family. I’m his wife, Connie, of 39.5 years and we have 4 wonderful adult children and 4 beautiful grandchildren.
Four years ago Dennis was diagnosed with “Interstitial Lung Disease”. Dennis is (and always has been) a non-smoker so that is not the cause of the disease. This disease causes a persons lungs to thicken and harden, which prohibits oxygen flow through the lungs. This also prohibits him from receiving enough oxygen in his blood, which makes it extremely hard to breathe and causes his oxygen saturation to drop so low that it puts stress on the rest of his organs. Dennis was placed on oxygen at that time to help him breathe. A little over two years ago Dennis was told he has about two years, maybe a little longer to live. That time is now here. Dennis was recently placed on the National Lung Transplant call list to receive new lungs, which is his only hope of surviving.
This is a blessing and at the same time a very hard and stressful time for us. Dennis has insurance to cover most of the surgical procedures, but the post-op care is not covered. Just one medication (he will require and was pre-warned) will be as high as $2,500 a month. There are a range of 11-15 medications he will have to take for the remainder of his life. The hospital wants us to have a verifiable account with enough funds to pay for his post-op care, which at this time we can’t show them. Without proof of funds, Dennis can be denied the lung transplant he desperately needs. They recommended we try fund raising to give Dennis a chance to live. We have very high faith that when he receives the gift of life, he will get to live without pain and suffering and will not have to rely on the constant 15-25 liters of oxygen per minute he currently requires. His hospital stays are getting closer together and requiring much longer admission times, and it’s time for him to be blessed with new lungs.
As a family, we are asking for your help and to please share Dennis’s story with other family and friends. It’s unfortunate that we have to be in a position to ask for this assistance, and that a price must be paid in order to live. Please, anything at all is greatly appreciated and will be used for his after care costs.
