Helene Rabbitt MedicalMobility Help

My name is Sean Rabbitt, I am a figure skater and a member of Team USA Representing the USA in overseas competitions. This go fund me however is not for me, but for my biggest fan, my mom Helene Rabbitt. My mom Helene is going on 30 years as a fighter of Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD).
This is a genetic muscle disorder in which the muscles of the face, shoulder blades and upper arms are among the most affected. The term muscular dystrophy means progressive muscle degeneration, with increasing weakness and atrophy (loss of bulk) of muscles. The less you use the muscles, the quicker the weaken, and once they are gone, they are gone for good.

My mom has been fighting and dealing with this incurable and frustrating disease for 30 years. Around 5 years ago, my mom suffered a very bad fall, breaking her ankle in 3 spots and requiring surgery. After the surgery my mom was bed ridden for 4 months, losing much of the muscle she had and leaving her completely dependent on a caretaker; myself, my dad, and my brother. Before this accident my mom was far from "healthy" in the physical sense, but she could still walk on her own, drive, and use the stairs in our house. But now after this injury, surgery, and 5 years later, my mom can walk about 40-50 feet with a walker, the rest of the time is in a wheel chair and is left to live her life to the confinments of her room on the 2nd floor of her home.

Whenever she needs to go somewhere (doctor, dentist, or just wants to go out) someone has to carry her up and down the stairs (usually me do to size and stability) and this is very dangerous as well as not always convenient. One of her favorite things is to come cheer me on at competition and she has had to miss many competitions in recent years because she does not want me to risk injury carrying her up and down the stairs.

My dad works for an airline and is working either very early in the morning or very late at night sometimes till 3am. That and with my rigerous training schedule and travel schedule, my mom can be left living up stairs for as long as 6 weeks at a time.

With me traveling more and more and my dads work hours many people suggest to sell our home and move but thats not financially doable. The second thing is many ask why not get a stair chair, but my mom needs assistance to sit and stand up so this is not going to be something she could use freely and costs close to the same for our type of staircase.
So, the reason for this go fund me is starting in a week my parents have finally decided to add a mobile lift to our home (similar to an elevator) and the costs for construction and installment for it is pretty steep.

By installing this my mom can freely move around the house without the worry of me carrying her up and down the stairs and be able to add a little freedom to her life.

If you can find it in your heart to donate even just a $1 that would mean so much to me, as I know my parents can far from afford this update and are using what little money they can scrape together to make this happen.

Should you have any questions, feel free to ask as I am happy to answer them.
Thank you so much to anyone who helps, my family and I are so thankful.
