Hedgehog Rescue Dublin

Donation protected

Hedgehog Rescue Dublin was set up in 2013 to rescue, rehabilitate and release wild Irish hedgehogs.  Every year since then has seen a significant increase in the number of sick, injured and orphaned animals that are being admitted.

Hedgehogs are under pressure in Ireland due to poisoning (mainly slug pellets), strimmer injuries, being hit by cars, habitat loss, being attacked by dogs, endoparasites and even climate change.

We will never turn an animal away but it is getting increasingly difficult to house the sheer numbers that are coming through our doors every year.  With the busy summer season fast approaching we are in desparate need of a larger facility where we can comfortably treat and house our patients in an environment that is condusive to best practice.
At present we are operating from a very small space, a 10 by 8 foot converted garden shed.  Whilst this was perfect in the early years the rescue has now outgrown this space.  If we raise enough funds we will be able to expand and create a much needed isolation unit for new patients as well as a 'nursery' area for orphans and an isolation area for animals presenting with transferrable diseases.  The picture above is our 'dream' unit, fully insulated with a separate isolation and food preperation area.

Irish hedgehogs are under pressure.  Please help us to continue and expand to be in a position to help more animals.  We would be so grateful. Thank you.
