Heartbreak and hope: Gregg’s story

Dear friends and colleagues,
I'll say I am not the most comfortable asking for money. I have always prided myself as someone who can support my family. Unfortunately though, I have very little means to get through this period in my life.
I worked for the Army Airforce Exchange services in Europe for the better part of the last 20 years serving our soldiers. I enjoyed making their life better while they were away from home. Last year my wife and I decided that it was time to move back to America. I came back last month alone to start a business and get life started here before my family came back. At least that was the basic plan.
About three weeks after I arrived I suffered an acute bleeding ulcer. My brother was going to take me to the hospital when he realized I couldn’t even walk to the car. I passed out on the steps and he could only hold me as he dialed the emergency services. Fortunately they were able to get me to the hospital in time to save my life. I had lost so much blood by then that I was barley conscious. I spent several days in the intensive care before I could stand and walk on my own again. I am doing better now and I am recovering at home. It will still be a while before I am back to normal.
Unfortunately this has cost us most of our savings and maxed out our credit cards. There are a lot of services that are not covered by insurance or only partly covered. We have had to pay the rest out of our pockets. Because of this my business is on hold and my family is still in Europe and we do not know when they will be able to come home.
I've never done this type of thing before. But if there is anyone out there that understands our situation and is willing to help us get back on our feet we'd be forever grateful!
