Heart Surgery for 3 yr old Shaki

While we were in Uganda last month we met Shakira (Shaki), she is one of the children at the orphanage we were working at. Shaki is 3 years old and has had a hole in her heart since birth. The part that breaks my heart the most is that she is not able to live a complete life; she is constantly breathing heavy, she is weak and tired, and maybe worst of all she is so susceptible to every illness that comes along. The other children love her dearly and are so sweet to help and care for her. I can't say enough good about the ladies who care for her and the children; they do all they can but the possibility of raising the $2224 for her surgery is beyond their comprehension. They need our help.
The surgery will be done at Mulago Heart Institute in Kampala by Dr. Oktcho. I have asked for a little extra to cover travel costs for Shaki and a guardian.
Trust me when I say that if you could meet her you would fall in love just as deeply as I have.
