Heart Break Lottie

Donation protected
We bought Lottie in January this year as a 4 month old puppy. She came to sit at my feet and immediately I felt a special bond with her. She chose us as her new Mum and Dad.
At a routine spaying appointment our world was shattered. She was diagnosed with a severe heart defect which would drastically reduce her life expectancy. After a visit to the Royal Veterinary College in London it was confirmed she had a hole in her heart and a defected tricuspid valve in the right chamber. Her heart was already enlarged and under immense strain so she was not given long to live.
The surgical team at the RVC discussed Lottie’s condition with a pediatric surgeon at the Brompton Hospital in London and they came up with a plan to save Lottie. This was her only chance. The surgery she required had only been performed on infants before so it was a new technique to the canine world.

Lottie underwent this life-saving open heart surgery on 30th July 2018. A team of expert cardiologist surgeon’s had a rare opportunity to further their knowledge in these techniques and therefore lots of other dogs will benefit from Lottie’s operation.

Her pre-op consultations and scans came to over £2,000. Her surgery cost was £12,000. Her post -operative care of scans and medication will be an ongoing expense for some time to come.

If you feel you can help in any way, a contribution, however small, would be greatly appreciated.

What Lottie has gone through at such a young age could help a dog that you know and love.
