Healing for Bethany Grace

My sister has always been a strong, independent, and amazing woman. Ever since she was a little girl, she was always driven by her passions in life. At the age of 5, Bethany would answer the question of "What do you want to be when you grow up?" with a response of her desire to be a paleontologist, (what 5 year old knows what that even is!?) However, Bethany decided to leave the dinosaur bones behind and found her true calling when she decided to serve God and those around her by pouring her heart and soul into becoming a Lutheran Pastor.
Bethany is currently in the middle of her internship at Grace Lutheran Church in Wenatchee, WA where she is surrounded by a support network and family unlike any other. Grace Lutheran has taken her in with warm and welcoming arms and is helping Bethany grow and develop into the pastor she will be one day. However, her internship experience is being interrupted with an unexpected medical scare.
Beginning of February, Bethany happened to step on a carpet tack. A very small and seemingly harmless puncture wound has turned into a life threatening medical situation. Bacteria had entered her body and immediately began to destroy all that it could, causing her to become septic. By the time she went to the hospital, she literally had hours left to live. After spending a lengthy amount of time in ICU and then moving to Progressive Care for a few days, she was finally cleared to go home, with the continuation of antibiotics and monitored care. But her foot and leg in which the puncture wound originated was not healing. After an MRI, they discovered an abscess in her leg which would need surgery. Having believed they cleared up the remaining infection, we thought Bethany was finally on the road to recovery. However, last weekend she ended up back in the hospital with another MRI showing that the infection was very much still present and that she would need another surgery and begin another 6 weeks of IV antibiotics.
We hope this is the final unexpected turn in the road for Bethany and she can finally begin the healing process and get back to what she loves most in life- serving God and becoming a pastor.
Your love and support is greatly appreciated!
