Ryen's Heart Transplant
For Ryen's Heart!
Ryen is a pretty typical 13 year old boy with a wacky sense of humor, who loves playing video games and fighting with his brother and sister.
He was born with a severe congenital heart defect, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome HLHS.
Unfortunately, he is currently experiencing congestive heart failure and needs a heart transplant. To get this new heart, the family is having to be split up for a few months.
Ryen and dad will live in Dallas near the transplant center, and his mom and siblings in their home in Round Rock, TX.
So what are we asking for exactly?
Any donations to help cover the extras costs of housing, gas,and food would be much appreciated!
And Ryen says that if sending money isn't your thing, you can always send a game.
Thank you so very much for your thoughts and kind hearts.
So first things first: A HUGE, and I do mean HUGE thank you to ALL my friends that helped bring in over $4000 yesterday. You guys are truly great people and I will always be there when you need anything!
And another BIG thank you to ALL that donated to Ryen and the family.
This money will help pay for this year's insurance deductible and will continue to help with the bills that come in.
This money will help pay for the room at the Ronald McDonald House, the extra groceries, and the traveling costs of the visiting family.
I don't think I could EVER put into words what it feels like when you realize you're not alone in this world. I can't even write this update because my eyes are waterfalls. I don't think I'll ever get my kids to understand how this feels...
After 3 tearful breaks in writing this update, I'm just going to end the update with a:
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Jan 6th marked 3 full months Ryen and Dad have been living in Dallas as they wait for a donor. He is listed at 1A status so hopefully the wait is not too much longer.
Ryen is still on IV medication for the heart.
Luckily he is able to be up and about like everyone else playing games, reading books and seeing a tutor.
The rest of the family continues to visit from Austin on the weekends.
If Ryen were to receive a heart tomorrow, we would continue to live in Dallas for about 3 more months as the Medical Center watches his vitals and immune system very closely.
Thank you again to everyone. Your donations will continue to help with food, gas and miscellaneous expenses.
To thank all of you, I prepared a video that many people have wanted to see... Call it my "Dance" of joy!
The amount donated was way more than ever expected and it will go a long way towards helping the family live apart for a few months.
To give thanks, Ryen and dad have prepared a video for your entertainment.
Amanda and Clint, this is your old neighbor Kassidi. I just happened to think of you guys out of the blue and looked Amanda up on Facebook and sent a friend request. I am so saddened to see that Ryen is waiting for a heart transplant and I want you to know that you are in our prayers!! Hopefully we can connect on Facebook, but here is what happened with us. Riley got his kidney transplant 6 1/2 years ago and it clotted off and died a few days later. His kidney failure is now terminal, as the first transplant clotted off his IVC and we are very likely on our last dialysis access. I can't believe how big your kids are. It has been a long time! We are praying for you and Ryen!!
