Hello! We are HD Resolution, a New York-based team of high school students competing at the annual iGEM  (International Genetically Engineered Machine) Competition. iGEM is a premiere synthetic biology competition and home to the largest synthetic biology community in the world, founded by MIT scientists in Boston, MA. Over the first ten years, more than 28,000 of the brightest young scientists, innovators, and leaders of the 21st century have participated in iGEM.

We are currently conducting laboratory experiments and research for a treatment for Huntington’s disease (HD) at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan under the supervision and advisory of our mentors Russell Hanson and Jason Fuller, graduates of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard.

HD is a genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. Its symptoms include involuntary movements, personality changes, and cognitive problems, and can eventually render a patient unable to speak or walk. HD is an inherited disorder, where children of the patients have a 50% chance of inheriting the disease. The number of people with HD will multiply significantly over generations.
