A GoFundMe Campaign for harps? Yes indeed! As professional harpists, our harps are our livelihood. We grew up without much money, had a house fire when we were kids and lost everything, and have always worked hard for everything we have – starting by earning the money for our first shared (pre-owned) harp when we were 12 – and working to put ourselves through school and earn our degrees in Harp Performance.
We’ve created self-made music videos for our fans to watch for free for 7 years – 84 music videos so far, and counting! When some people see how many views some of our videos have, they assume that millions of views translate into a lot of money for us, but that is not the case. Because of the amount of cover music we post, most of the monetization from video advertisements goes to the publishers of the original artists and YouTube. So, we don't end up making much money off of our YouTube videos. What little we make always goes back into creating more music videos for all of you!
We love our fans and have performed as many free or low-cost concerts as possible over the last few years because we love to share our music and bring joy to others. Our electric harps work well to amplify for any space because we can raise the volume to fit the venue! We have much more trouble recording and amplifying our acoustic pedal harps because they can’t be plugged in. We have cut down our personal budget the last couple of years to save money for the purchase electro-acoustic pedal harps. We know these harps will help us significantly in our performances and videos.
What is an electro-acoustic pedal harp?
An Electro-Acoustic Pedal Harp is just like an acoustic harp you would see in an orchestra, but it has an integrated pick-up that allows it to be amplified and recorded evenly and clearly. Each of the harp's 47 strings are equipped with a highly accurate pick-up that amplifies each pluck of the string. Electro-Acoustic harps have the ability to link to special effects pedals, which give this unique harp a modern and innovative edge! Electro-acoustic pedal harps will also allow us to amplify much more easily for large spaces and live concert venues… imagine our “One” (Metallica) and “Stairway to Heaven” arrangements with amplification! :D :D
What your money will be used for:
ALL of the contributions to this campaign will go directly towards the purchase of 2 Electro-Acoustic pedal harps. Our “goal” amount for this campaign is the remainder of the down payment we need to place our order. There is a wait time of 4-6 months for these particular harps to be manufactured and we would love to be able to start performing and making videos with them as soon as possible! Any amount recieved over our “goal” for this campaign would be amazing and would still be used directly for the purchase of these harps as we will have future payments in 2017.
