Harmony House builds View St Home

Tax deductible
Harmony House of Western Massachusetts is a home,
a hope, a 501(c)(3), providing a unique approach to providing shelter with compassionate care for terminally ill individuals.

How are we funded? Harmony House is funded by individual and corporate donations, fundraising and grants.

Our biggest and most immediate goal is to rebuild our home to meet the needs of those we serve.

Deciding end of life care for a loved one is a difficult decision in which no one should face alone. A common desire is to be cared for at home for as long as possible. Often this wish is not granted due to many difficult circumstances loved ones are forced to face. Harmony House has a goal of eliminating some of these stresses for individuals in our community in need of end of life care. Harmony House is a social-model home that provides trained caregivers  for those who have limited resources, lack of a capable caregiver, and are facing the end of their lives alone. Since opening our doors in June of 2017 we have had the privilege of seeing many of our residents enjoy the comforts of having their family visit in the privacy of their bedroom at our home, share stories and laughs at our kitchen table with friends, and rest in comfortable recliners while watching their favorite TV program. Our current house allows us to provide a home for only two residents at a time, which has become challenging as every week more and more people reach out to us in need. Overall there is a growing want for social model homes such as Harmony House.

The good news is Harmony House already owns a second property and we have begun the building process which will provide a newly renovated house allowing up to nine bedrooms. This View St property will give us the opportunity to provide a home for even more terminally ill individuals in need. While the property has been purchased and plans are in the works, Harmony House is in need of donations. The expected cost is around $600,000 to accomplish the initial renovations to make this effort a reality.

It is often a desire to die at home, but often this becomes unrealistic for individuals to take on alone. Harmony House has a dedicated team of volunteers and donors willing to give in order to make this a reality for our community members in need. One day you may need Harmony House, but right now we need you.

Thank you.
