The 1000 Year Flood – A year later…
Our Pre-K/Kindergarten children are still displaced from their building. Until we raise $150,000 to cover the gap between insurance and available funding, we are unable to move forward in the renovation project.
Our children keep asking, ”When can we go back into our building?”
On October 4th, 2015 Columbia, SC had a devastating flood that affected our small non-profit school. Harmony School provides a hands-on multi-sensory learning environment for ages preschool through fifth grade. We had serious flooding in our main building where our three classrooms of preschool/k children reside.
To begin the repair process we've had to cut our walls 4 feet high, rip out doors, shelving and carpet. We were able to move our preschool/k children into two portables on our property for the time being. In one portable we are sharing space with the office. Our parents have been wonderful and supportive through all of this devastation.
Harmony School has flood insurance; however our main building is an old building and due to the reconstruction that must happen we now have to bring the building up to “code.” This means thousands of more dollars our small non-profit school does not have. We need $150,000 in order to get back into our classrooms!
We are hoping and wishing you would consider a donation to help Harmony School at this time. Our children, parents and staff would be so GRATEFUL and appreciative if you could please consider, at this desperate time, to help with a donation so Harmony School can continue to offer its wonderful education program for another 30 years!
