Who Are We?
Hanwoollim UW is a student-led organization formed at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. It started a year ago with one Korean international student who wanted to share his culture on campus through music. Now, we're 12 members strong and looking to expand. All of us have Korean heritage but not all of us grew up in Korea. Some of us were born in Washington and joined the group to reconnect with our heritage.
한울림이란?
유덥 한울림은 워싱턴 주에 위치한 워싱턴 대학 시애틀 캠퍼스에 소속된 학생 동아리입니다. 이 동아리는 일년 전 한국 유학생의 자문화를 음악으로써 널리 공유하고자 하는 포부로 시작되었습니다. 현재 저희는 12명의 회원으로 구성되어 있습니다. 회원들 모두 한국과 연관이 있지만, 모두가 한국에서 자라지는 않았습니다. 몇 명은 워싱턴 주에서 태어나거나 성장했으며 한국인으로서의 뿌리를 되찾기위해 동아리에 가입했습니다.
What Do We Do?
We're mainly musicians who play a type of traditional Korean music known as "samulnori". We play four main percussion instruments known as the "janggu", "buk", "gengwari", and "jing". However, we've recently been looking into other kinds of performances such as "sangmo nori" which requires spinning a long ribbon attached to a hat. We perform at all kinds of events, from local school and community performances to parades such as the Torchlight Parade.
한울림은 무엇을 하는가?
저희는 "사물놀이"라는 한국 전통의 음악을 연주하는 음악가들입니다. 저희는 사물놀이의 네 가지 대표적인 악기들로 알려져 있는 "장구", "북", "꽹과리", 그리고 "징"을 연주합니다. 하지만 최근에는 모자에 붙어있는 긴 끈을 돌리는 "상모놀이"와 같은 여러가지 다른 공연 종류 또한 알아보고 있습니다. 저희는 현지 학교나 지역 퍼포먼스, 퍼레이드 등 가능한 모든 이벤트에서 공연을 하며, 최근 예시로는 시애틀 부근의 Torchlight Parade가 있습니다. 
What Do We Want for the Future?
In Seattle, traditional Korean drumming is a fading art and we want to reinvigorate its presence through Hanwoollim UW. We want our club to continue beyond its current members and expand beyond "samulnori". In fact, we hope to incorporate dances and other types of traditional Korean performances such as the fan dance.

시애틀에서는 한국의 전통 음악이 사라지고 있는 추세이며, 저희는 유덥 한울림을 통해 그런 고유 문화에 활기를 불어넣고 싶습니다. 저희는 한울림이 현재 멤버들 이후로도 계속 이어지고 사물놀이 동아리 이상의 가치가 되길 바랍니다. 저희는 곧 부채춤과 같은 다른 종류의 한국 전통 퍼포먼스를 동아리 공연에 포함시킬 예정입니다.
Why Do We Need Your Support?
We are currently borrowing our instruments and performance outfits from a local performance group known as "Oolleem".
With your support, we hope to perform with our own instruments and outfits before the school year, which starts in late September.
We're grateful for any support you can provide us. With your help, we not only can promote traditional korean performing arts, but we can also provide a sturdy foundation for the future members of Hanwoollim UW.
