This past summer my 23 year old sister Hanna was diagnosed with terminal cancer - more specifically peritineal mesothelioma - which is from asbestos exposure. She had lower abdominal pain all summer long, and just before going back to finish her final year at Covenant College in Georgia, she went for a check up at her gynocologist to check for orvarian cysts. During a laproscopic procedure the cancer was discovered.

After meeting several oncologists, Hanna felt strongly that she needed to pursue a natural approach to dealing with the disease. She was able to enter into the care of some of the best alternative doctors available who felt confident they could help her. And so, over the past 6 months Hanna has pursued every avenue of homeopathic treatments, traveling to doctors around the tri-state area every day of the week, sometimes two in one day.

We found out two weeks ago that the the tumors in Hanna's abdomen have grown from 3 CM to 17.5 CM - and have englufed her bladder, uterus, ovaries and affected part of her liver. It was made clear to her and my family that surgery is required immediately.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP:
Hanna met with THE top surgeon for this type of cancer in Washington D.C. and he has an opening available to perform surgery this Thursday, March 8, 2018, before he takes a leave of absence. But, our insurance will only cover procedures within the state of New Jersey. We need to raise the funds to get this procedure done this week. We have no time to waste chasing down the insurance company. All donations will be put into the bank account of Hanna's mom - Hope, as she is sparing Hanna the financial burden as Hanna fights for her life.

Throughout this entire experience, Hanna has remained steadfast and hopeful, which we credit to God and the immensely supportive community of friends and family who have come alongside her, prayed for her and sent notes of encouragement to Hanna. We recognize this is an incredible amount of money to try and raise in such a short amount of time, but her life depends on it. We believe that God is bigger than cancer, and that everything is possible through Him. So, we are hoping and believing for the impossible - and would be so grateful for anything you can do to help financially and by sharing this page.

Great news! We got a clear scan!!!

Friday was a great day, and our appointment with Doc after my MRI went very well. He said my scans look great, and to not even think about it - that if anything comes back, the scans will show it way before I show any symptoms. My next scan is scheduled for the end of November.

I can't even begin to explain the relief we felt after we left our appointment - my mom and I both cried as we walked out into the hall. After almost a year long journey, it feels like we can finally take a breath and move on with our lives. I am currently enrolled for classes this fall semester back at school in Georgia, and my plan is to finish my senior year and graduate.

The biggest thing that has gotten me through this is that I haven't had to do it alone. I have had family and friends that haven't shied away from any of it, a community that has given back immensely (clearly seen with this gofundme!), and a God who walked through it all with me every step. Huge crises in our lives seem to make all the superfluous things fall away, and our focus is able to then be put on what is most important. Though this has been undoubtably the hardest thing I've gone through so far, this kind of clarity has been the biggest gift that has come from it all. At the end of the day, no matter what we are faced with, the thing we can hold on to is that we are not alone, and that we have a God that never abandons us, even if life doesn't look the way we want or expected. I am so thankful for the immense love and generosity that I have received during this time - out of suffering I was able to experience a love that I would not have known otherwise.

Thank you all for caring for me and walking through this with me.

Love,
Hanna and the Wilt Family

We are just about to the four month mark post-op, which means tomorrow I will be getting an MRI to check on my progress. My imaging will be at 8am, then I have an appointment with my oncologist at 10am, which I will hopefully hear about my results then!

Overall, I have been feeling physically very strong, and am back to a normal daily routine for the most part! I am exercising and working again, and am currently enrolled for classes for fall semester to finish up my senior year.

I have been, and still am, so thankful for these past two months and how it seemed like all of a sudden I was back to normal. I never thought that I would be where I am now this quickly; it's amazing what the human body can go through and come back from.

Though I am thrilled to be feeling better, I definitely am anxious for my appointment tomorrow. With something like cancer, you can be afraid to hope for good news because you don't want to be disappointed once again. What I have been trying to focus on is how much stronger I am and how I haven't experienced any of my old symptoms - remembering these things helps to give me something tangible to hold on to. As of now, I just want to focus on what is good and real right now - whatever the results may be, I will deal with them when I get to them.

I still can't believe that as I write this, I am updating almost 3,000 people that have contributed and supported me through this. I ask now for prayers of comfort and peace, to have hope for me, and most importantly, a clear scan!!! We are so close, and as scary as it is, I am daring to have hope. God has brought me this far, and I believe that He will keep doing so.

Thank you again for everything - I love all of you a whole lot,
Hanna

Hi everyone, I'm excited to finally be able to give my own update this week! (this is Hanna by the way). I wanna start of by saying a huuuuuugeee THANK YOU to all of you who have been such an amazing expression of God's love to me, and thank you to my sister Kate who started this fund for me in the first place and maintained all the updates.

This past Friday I had my post-op appointment with Dr. Alexander, which was a very positive day overall. He is very happy with my progress so far considering it has only been 3 and a half weeks since my surgery, and I am able to move around very well. I am scheduled for a follow up scan in the beginning of August, and as of now, further systemic chemo is not necessary (praise God!). Dr. Alexander says that it's going to take about 3 months for me to be back to normal again.

This past week my appetite has improved a lot, though my GI tract is still pretty messed up. For the most part I'm very fatigued as well, so I am thankful to be able to just rest.

My quick progress is undoubtably from all the prayers and support I continually have from all of you, and I cannot say thank you enough. My family and I are so grateful to feel like we can finally take a breath, and I can now focus on starting to get healthier and stronger again.

We would appreciate continued prayer for healing and for a clear scan in August.

Love xoxo
- Hanna, Haku, and the Wilt family

Our most joyful update so far...

Hanna came home from the hospital 8 days after surgery!

Her Dr. feels confident that she is healing very well - and that she will continue to do so each day. Right now she is in a lot of pain, but is grateful to be at home and reunited with her cuddly pup.

Please continue to pray for her healing - as we know that the power of your prayers have brought us this far <3

We are so grateful for you all and love you soo much!
