Hello! We are The Halifax Fringe Festival (formerly The Atlantic Fringe Festival) and we need your help! The Halifax Fringe was officially established in 1990 and has produced an annual Fringe Festival in Halifax for the last 26 years. We’re looking forward to the 27th this summer! The Fringe is 11 days, over 55 productions, performing over 350 individual performances, at over 10 venues!
The Halifax Fringe Festival is a non profit association run by a volunteer board. 100% of the box office is returned to the artists! We are a proud member of The Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals & Theatre Nova Scotia .
This year is our 27th Fringe Festival and we’ve just changed our name! We want to make sure we get the word out. Not only about the name change, but the Halifax Theatre scene, all the local and touring Fringe artists, and the festival as a whole!
We’ve started this Gofundme to support the name change and promotion of the 27th Halifax Fringe. We believe that everyone should be able to take part in The Halifax Fringe Festival, so we keep registration fees very low. As a Fringe Festival, 100% of our box office is returned to the artists (as the Canadian Association of Fringe Festivals mandates). We need to raise the extra funds to help the 27th annual Halifax Fringe Festival happen bigger and better than ever before! Fringe is a community - help us make it bigger!
With the $10,000 we will be printing signage that we’ll keep and use year after year (Pop up banners, venue signage). We use a lot of venues off the beaten path and want to make sure we make it clear for audience members to find the Fringe. We’ll also be printing more guides than we usually do to start distribution of them sooner. We will take this opportunity to advertise to greater Halifax, and get audience members that have maybe never heard of us or don't typically go to the theatre / performing arts. We need to purchase a billboard, bus ads, and social media ads to reach them. Another key part of this plan is having the funds to hire an Outreach Coordinator. They would do outreach finding the right audiences for each production in the Halifax Fringe, concentrating on group sales to the productions.
