Half way to Yosemite!
We have planned to take a 3 day trip to connect with the natural wonders of Yosemite! They will explore the landscape, participate in field research projects, and learn about how their actions impact the community. The students are overly excited to go and I am excited to see their curiosity reignited. It’s an ambitious trip because of funding, we know. But, you wouldn’t believe how hard our students have been working to fundraise the cost for our field trip. Forty-two of our 7th and 8th graders here at Dover Academy have raised over $6,500 in chocolate, cookie dough, and walkathon sponsorships over the last 5 months.
We still have another $7,000 to go to cover the cost of the trip and we need the help of members in our community. Here’s the breakdown for 42 students and 7 adults to attend:
$10,045 for the tuition which includes meals and lodging for 3 days
$3,958 for the charter bus we have to use because it is an overnight trip
We are still planning to fundraise up until the date of our trip in May with a car wash and donations to Savers with our unused household items. But, $7,000 is a lot to raise in a short period of time and we desperately need your support in any way possible.
Our outlook from the very beginning of our fundraisers is that, even if we only get a $1 after asking, it’s still $1 more than we had yesterday.
Would you consider donating any amount to help us achieve our mission?
We thank you in advance for your support! Your donation is greatly appreciated and will be used to complete the cost of our trip!
I am so excited for you and your class! My school Yosemite trip is a memory I still hold close to my heart. I hope the additional funds will keep your current and future classes well stocked with supplies- I know a lot of those tend to come out of teacher salaries!
So happy for you and your class, Kacie! What do you plan to do with the money raised beyond your goal? I can imagine a nice gesture would be for the class to donate the money so another class can do a similar trip. Can't wait to hear what the kids think of Yosemite!
