 National Championship. 1988

18010404_1487221058.2967_funddescriptionOn January 23,2017, at the age of 48, Bill Hackett suffered a heart attack and following surgery he spent 4 costly nights in ICU.

Bill is home recovering now and we are eternally grateful for this outcome. The Hacketts are in need of financial assistance while he's out of work and healing. All donations, of any size, are deeply appreciated.

Bill graduated from the University of Notre Dame and played on the 1988 National Championship team. He loves his school and his spot in Notre Dame history. He is grateful to be part of the Notre Dame family. He's always has a good word and his blood runs Blue and Gold.

We're raising funds to Help him and his wife Pam with medical costs and to keep the house up and running. We want to make sure his two daughters ages 5 and 9 are taken care of while Bill recovers.

He is unable to return to his old career due to physical demands and he will be looking for new opportunities once he is medically cleared to resume work.

Please Help spread the word! Thank you in advance for your help and good thoughts. We are so grateful.

Since our last update I have completed cardio rehab a 13 week 3 day a week class that will not only help you cardio but help your mental game as well. We have decided to move from the Atlanta area to the Nashville TN area to be close to my wife's family. We are actually moving in the next 10 days.

I want to thank everyone who has shed any kind of light good feeling and donations are way. I've been humbled by the support of so many people. All the funds that we have received have helped keep our house up and running.

If you could find it in your heart please send the light and love our way. Any size donation would be very helpful right now with our move. Thank you

I would like to thank each and every one of you that has either donated or send good thoughts our way. Over the past 2 1/2 months my life and my families has been turned upside down.

Your donations have allowed me to rest and take my time getting back in the swing of things. Our monthly bills are current. My meds are full and we are moving along all because of your donations.

Being able to sit and watch my daughters ride their bikes in the driveway is a wonderful feeling. Hearing the birds chirping on a beautiful spring day is priceless. Spending time with my daughters and wife and really taking it easy to recover. I am so grateful for all you all have done for me.

The thoughts of not being here for my girls is constant to this day. Suffering a heart attack will drop you down a notch. Physically but most of all mentally. It's a tough battle one that I fight with everyday. My attitude is great my family is even better. Cardio rehab 3 days a week at the hospital has been a Godsend.

I will make a full recovery. I have more lives to touch I have a wonderful wife and girls to be a dad to. We are excited about the changes that are happening in our lives because of my heart attack. Again I would advise each and everyone who reads this update. Go to the doctors office. Don't wait until your life flashes in front of you. Because it will

I am getting stronger but by no means back to 100 %. If you could find it in your hearts to please help us again or for the first time. All donations are needed. We are asking that you please donate I love you all. We are grateful. Bill Hackett

Update on Bill Hackett’s recovery:

Bill has been getting stronger over the past few weeks. While he has dealt with some uncomfortable side-effects from some of his new medications, he is learning to adjust his daily activities to accommodate them. He just began his cardio-rehabilitation, which offers him support and monitoring as he re-gains his strength, endurance, and confidence. Per doctor’s orders, he will continue cardio-rehab three days per week, for twelve weeks. During this time, Bill is doing what he can to help provide for his family; writing a few contractor’s estimates, and desk-assisting on a few claims. But he is still unable to return to field-adjusting and, due to the cardio-rehab schedule, unable to begin any new full-time desk work for a few more months. His wife, Pam continues to work part-time, as she cares for Bill and the kids, and eagerly pursues full-time work. The Hacketts have been able to keep the household running and provide for their children almost entirely with the generous donations made through this GoFundMe campaign. While things are looking much brighter as the weeks go by, they are still in need of your support. The Hackett family is so grateful to all who have contributed to the fund, as well as all who have sent notes of encouragement and support. Through this campaign, Bill has found the opportunity to re-connect with many of his old friends from high school and with his Notre Dame Family. He counts the support he has received (in all forms) among the greatest of blessings, and attributes his quick recovery to all the love the Hackett family has received in response to their time of need. Bill is eager to return to working full-time, and to supporting his family as he always has. In the meantime, the donations made here continue to help the Hacketts to pay their monthly bills, and to keep food on the table as Bill rebuilds his health and career.
