Anna has had a rough start in this world, but we are determined to find a cure and treat her the best we possibly can in the mean time.
On September 17th 2017 Anna elizabeth made her way into this world. My water had broke and I was six weeks early and Anna was breech. We opted for a c-section and waited until I got all of the necessary hormone shots. I had a very easy planned surgery and things went incredibly smoothly. I heard a cry and the nurse said she was beautiful and I felt my tense body relax. Shortly after I heard concerned banter and asked if I was ok thinking they had just said she was fine so maybe I was not. The doctor assured me everything was ok with me and they gave me more meds to relax me. What no one said was that on the other side of the room Anna was quickly drying out and her poor tiny body was cracking all over. Her hands and feet were turning blue from lack of circulation and this perfect baby now had huge open wounds and her eyes were swelling she couldn’t close her mouth and breathing was hard. Anna has harlequin ichthyosis and she had developed many layers of skin while in the womb and as her body hit the air all of those extra layers became very hard and ripped open. It is so rare they had no diagnoses to give us. As they tried frantically to save her and to give us answers my husband was standing alone getting the worst news of his life, news that I would get awhile later. I need your help to give Anna the things she needs but also to help get money to cure this. Ichthyosis CAN absolutely be cured with enough funding. Help me help Anna and until we can please like our page and join our lives because we are learning as we go. Anna needs an army and I have faith in the good people we have found everywhere.
