Carry races Phillip Island Classic

Hello, my name is Carry Andrew.  

Motorcycles and motorcycle racing have been my passion for the last 42 years.  Many of you know me or know of me through my team, my racing, and business (Hypercycle).

Here is some brief history of my involvement in the sport:

I started racing locally in 1973, turned pro in 1978, won one national championship in 1988, and promptly retired in 1989 to raise a family with my wife Nancy.

Since then I have stayed involved in racing, taking part in (3)  additional national championships, and I am especially honored for being recognized with (2) AMA Tuner of the Year awards.

I retired from full time racing at the end of 2005, but continued my involvement in racing projects with individuals, a manufacturer, and industry publications. Most recently one of those projects saw me restoring and renovating the same KZ1000 I raced in the late 70s and early 80s.  This project has rejuvenated my racing mojo and I have steadfastly upped my saddle time.  The culmination of this effort has resulted in 2 AHRMA race victories in 2 tries.

My good performance in those 2 AHRMA races has now afforded me the opportunity to participate in the AMCN International Island Classic, Australia's largest historic motorcycle race.  Here is a description from the event website:

'In its 23rd consecutive year the event features the International challenge fiercely contested between Australia, the UK, USA, New Zealand and newcomers for 2016 Ireland along with a points score challenge for the perpetual Phil Irving trophy.

This new entry means five national squads will race the International Challenge, with the Irish taking on the four experienced teams - defending champions the UK, Australia who won the title from its inception in 2005 to 2014, the USA and NZ.

Champions from past and present converge on the famous Phillip Island Circuit from all over the world for the classic...'.

Being invited to race at this highly acclaimed international event is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.  I am hopeful that my friends and fans will consider helping me to fund this very expensive adventure.  This trip is expensive:  I have a lot of obligations, I will need to build a spare engine, and of course bring or pay for all the obligatory race spares, fuel, and tires as well.
