Savannah had her 3rd surgery yesterday. They were able to close up one side of her leg! They did not end up putting a pin in her foot, but adjusted her new drop plate on her foot. She will need skin grafts eventually, but the muscles they checked looked pretty good. The damaged arteries are still being watched very closely, as well as keeping an eye out for potential infections. Her surgeon said it will be a very long road, but that as long as Vascular stays good and there are no big surprises, that things look to be going in the right direction!

They took her off of her morphine in order to move rooms and her pain became unbearable and her heart rate was also very high. They sent a pain team in and were able to regulate pain and heart rate so she was resting well post-surgery.

The length of her stay in Iowa City is still undetermined, as well as the number of surgeries that she will still need.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support! May God receive ALL of the praise through Savannahs life and story!

Savannahs team of surgeons are making decisions about next steps today. Her next operation will be to clean the leg, trying to set some of the bones and possibly closing up one of the wound vacs. If they are able to close the wound, she will need skin grafted from her thigh/hip to patch the area. She has been receiving blood transfusions today and increased pain medication to make her more comfortable.

Savannah is recovering from surgery today. One of the arteries in her leg was a complete loss, the other was clotted. She is being put on blood thinners to prevent further clotting and will be monitored around the clock. Her calf muscle has also been affected. It will be some time before we know the extent of everything and how it will affect feeling and movement in her leg long term. Thank you all for your overwhelming support! Our family is so very grateful.
