G R Serna Medical bills

$10,195 of $20,000 goal

Raised by 117 people in 6 months
Created January 2, 2019
At 5:15 a.m. January 1st, 2019, G R Serna and family were on the way to Corpus Christi International Airport to see their son off to his U. S. Army unit in Leavenworth, Kansas.  In route, a drunk driver traveling at a high rate of speed on the wrong side of the highway collided with the family head on.  The drunk driver lost his life in the accident and forever changed the lives of the Serna family.  G R is now in the ICU at Bay Area Medical Center with multiple debilitating injuries and in critical but stable condition. Yasmin, his wife, sustained multiple non life threating injuries and after surgery will be hospitalized for the coming days.  Jason, his son, has also had surgery and will be required to stay hospitalized also.
G R has been a friend to many customers in his book of business and has been a part of our Toyota family for 23 years.  He is the only source of income for the family and now it will be difficult for them to carry on with out our help.

We are starting this go-fund-me page with a goal that will surely go higher as his families medical bills start to rise.

Many people have called requesting an update on GR’s condition. With respect to the family’s privacy, we have held up information till now. It's been 82 days since the accident that changed the Serna family's life. A grueling two months and three weeks hoping against hope and praying for GR not to succumb to his injuries. GR took a turn for the worst eight days ago. He was moved from the Intensive Care Unit at Bay Area hospital to a facility next to Spohn Shoreline for further treatment.
Unfortunately, it is with a heavy heart that I say, GR has lost the battle against his injuries. The family would like to thank all those who cared and prayed for his recovery. Another update will be forthcoming in the next few days with information on a celebration of his life.

We would like to thank everyone that has helped with donations for G R and his family through the go-fund-me page. Please remember to share this information with your friends on social media. No donation is too small.

We would also like to thank all the volunteers that helped put on the benefit BBQ last Saturday.

Yesmin is extremely grateful for the support and love that everyone is giving him.

We are all still praying and hoping for good things to come for him.

G R is responsive and knows what is going on around him but cannot move or speak. He is still in ICU and in critical but stable condition. He has no recollection of the accident that changed his family’s life.

He is, however, looking better and better every day, that is not to say he is out of the woods, but it is a great leap forward to recovery. The Doctors have determined that the multiple surgeries have been taking a toll on his body and are wanting him to get stronger for the next round of medical miracles. Therefore he is on bed rest till more work can be done to repair his broken body.
