Gucci's Recovery Fund

My beautiful boy Gucci has been extensively injured in what the vets say is either from a dog attack/hit by a car or both. It's possible that it could be a human attack as well... It's too hard to tell either way, he has puncture wounds, but the bruising seems to be too aggressive for a dog attack without having rips in his skin.  The bruising  on his body looks like a car impact hit or human attack.... unfortunately the only person who knows what happened is Gucci and he can't tell me what happened.

He disappeared on Tuesday night and I was frantically searching for him every hour on the hour until I found him at my doorstep on Wednesday night... drenched from the rain, covered in dirt and twigs and obviously in a lot of pain.

His injuries are severe.  He has a tail pull injury where the tail has come away from his spine, and in turn has damaged the nerves at  the base of the tail.  This means that he will need to have his tail amputated. 

As well as this, he has extensive bruising all over the lower part of the body.   The vet surgeon who is currently looking after him has said that it is one of the worst bruising that he has ever seen.  The bruising covers both his legs, his back, right around past his genitals to his stomach.

He has lost the function to be able to go to the bathroom on his own at this stage.  This may be a temporary thing, but with injuries as extensive as Gucci has the recovery period may be anywhere up to 6 weeks before he has the ability to be able to get his toilet functions back.

Gucci has been with me for 11 years and has been a support to me when I have been through some of the worst times of my life.  He has made me smile during bad times and has always been by my side to cheer me up.  I want to be able to do the same now for him.... He is my life and soul...

I want to be able to give him the best chance of survival and time is of the essence.  Obviously there is a cost per day for Gucci to be in care at the emergency vets, and I currently have limited funds.  I am looking for funding that will give Gucci another 4 weeks stay at the vet.  They have estimated his stay is approximately $500 per day, so if I can give him an additional 4 weeks on top of what i can afford I have the best chance to save Gucci's life.

Gucci was a rescue kitten.  His mother came in as a stray pregnant to the local vet clinic.  As I had lost a kitten to the cat flu a couple of months prior my vet rang me to let me know that she would have some kittens available shortly once the mother had given birth and thought that I would like to help save another kitten.

When I able to go in to see the kittens I saw Gucci and I fell in love with him instantly.  Gucci also chose me as he was the only kitten out of the litter that came up to me, and he didn't leave my side until I had to leave.  It was an instant connection between the two of us, and I knew I had to have him as part of my family.  I was able to pick him up and take him home a couple of weeks later once he was desexed and was old enough to leave the vet where he was housed.  Since then, he has been my golden boy.  I don't know life without him.

The funds that I want to raise will cover his hospital stay for 4 weeks... that will take him to the 6 week recovery period that it can take for a cat to get their toilet functions back.

Once the funds are used I would be more than happy to supply receipts and documentation to show exactly where the funds have gone to.  If, by any chance Gucci recovers and there are funds left over I would love to be able to donate the money to one of the animal charities I support.

It would mean the world to me to be able to receive some funding.  I'm normally not the type of person to ask for help, especially for myself, but Gucci means too much to me... I need Gucci to survive and I want him to be able to come home to me where he belongs.

The last couple of days have been an emotional rollercoaster with his health going up and down. I have been in to the vets to visit with him every day... and every day when he has seen me he has purred the whole time I have been there... Today and yesterday when I visited him he started to knead the blanket he is resting on, so he is content even though he is in severe pain.  I think he loves my visits and I will continue to visit him on a daily basis whilst he is in recovery.  I know this lifts his spirits and it gives him hope and something to look forward to each day.

I'm not ready for him to leave me, and he isn't ready to leave me just yet....  I know this as I can see it in his eyes that he wants to pull through this.  Unfortunately I can't do this on my own... I need your help.
