GuardianCon & Destiny Art!
This July, I have been given the opportunity to present my art to up to 15,000 video game fans attending GuardianCon in Tampa, Florida.
But I need help getting there.
The convention focuses on Bungie's Destiny video game franchise and features many other first person competitive games, industry presentations, content creators and other fan artists and fine artists.
Beautifully, this event is also tied directly to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital. Last year GuardianCon raised $1.3 million to help sick kids. As of two weeks ago, they have already raised over $800,000. And the full event hasn't even kicked off yet.
I'll be bringing my own original works, plus as many Destiny themed work as I can finish leading up to the convention. In the spirit of the convention, I'll also be donating 20% of all my proceeds at the convention, on both Destiny art and my own original works, to St. Judes. Here are two examples of what I have already created.
The Ace of Spades - Destiny 1 - 42x36" Acrylic/Mixed Media on Canvas
MIDA Multi Tool - Destiny 2 - 42x36" Acrylic/Mixed Media on Canvas
I am asking for help here and now because I truly believe that this event could change the trajectory of my art career permanently.
What your donations will cover:
- Travel to and from the convention
- Lodging for 1-2 nights in Tampa for the convention
- A 2nd (and possibly 3rd) badge for helpers to attend the convention
- Materials to produce more works to offer to fans at the convention
- Assistance with my regular monthly costs of living for July 2018 only, to allow the opportunity to continue working as a fine artist.
The total I need includes costs that I need to pay by the end of this week, and all throughout the remaining lead up to the convention. Any amount at all will help, but the sooner you can contribute, the better. That will give me even more time to capitalize on this amazing event.

If you would like to support me but would prefer to obtain a regular fine art commission instead of donating, I am also available to fulfill a goodly number of pieces throughout the summer.
I have also posted more details and my thoughts on my blog, here:

Now, every dollar that I've raised has a purpose for this event. Some is for cash to make change with patrons, some is for materials to create prints, and some is even so I can eat and not starve while attempting to get to the convention.
I created a blog post to show where some of those dollars are going- I finalized new business cards and a flyer for the convention today. You can check them out on my blog:
I'm constantly reminded of a saying I learned from a friend that I mountain biked with and worked with for a time. He was a veteran of OIF and an engineer, and his Twitter bio had a quote that has resonated with me for nearly a decade now:
The hill isn't in the way, it IS the way.
Thank you all so much for your support in getting me to the convention and getting my art in front of so many new eyeballs. This event has a huge amount of potential for me and I can't wait to engage a new audience.
Sorry, it's late. It's been a long day. : P
I've had a few great phone calls and text conversations with friends and family about the trip, and the logistics are starting to shape up nicely.
But I still need help. I love that there are more shares of my story than I've asked for- more even than donations. It's a nice feeling to see folks promoting my work even a little, and supporting a huge step forward into the very real possibility of a full time arts career.
Thank you so much to those who have donated and shared. Without your help, none of this would be possible.
