Love For The Balli Family

Dominic and Emily Balli were expecting baby number four (a boy) in January. As many already know, the baby had anencephaly, a rare terminal birth defect affecting the development of the skull and brain. Infants with this disorder do not survive longer than a few hours or possibly days after their birth.

Due to a low platelet count Emily was induced and began the process of delivering their baby boy earlier than expected on Wednesday 12/17/14.  After almost 24 hours in the hospital, Emily delivered baby Nehemiah Leone Balli at 8am Thursday morning.

Because of Nehemiah's condition both Dominic and Emily had no idea what to expect once he was born. Seconds were gifts,  minutes were treasures, and hours were priceless.  Dominic and Emily enjoyed every second with their beautiful boy and are thankful to God for His grace in giving time they never expected.

Early Friday morning Nehemiah took his last breath here and his first breath in eternity.

Later that morning Dominic wrote:
"Nehemiah Leone Balli went to Heaven this morning at 6:02am. We had 22 hours with that little lion, which was so much longer than we expected, but so much shorter than we wish we had. But we enjoyed every single second of him. He fought so hard til the end. He was so strong and was such a champ. I'm so proud of him. He struggled a lot through the night and there were some very scary, dark moments for us. But there were way more beautiful moments. In the end we sang to him, held him, talked with him, listened to him, smelled him, kissed him, snuggled him, and then he peacefully took a big breath and went to Jesus. It was the worst moment of our lives and yet somehow beautiful to take our son to the feet of his maker. Our hearts are broken, and we've never been so consumed with the idea of heaven before. He's in glory now. No anencephaly, no limitations, just perfect. We felt the prayers and saw the hand of God in every moment of the last 50 hours. We love our little dude and are so thankful for his life. See you soon buddy."

We've set the funding goal for $10,000+ for the purpose of taking care of the many needs that go along with the birth and burial of their sweet baby boy.

If they have blessed you in some degree, whether personally or through their ministry, please consider giving during this time and pray for them as they enter into the hardest part of this journey.

Thanks friends.

"So we trust and surrender. We choose to not surrender to depression, fear, or anger, but surrender to a God who we trust - who loves us. And a God who knows what it's like to lose a son" - Dominic Balli
